I just got a new avast update minutes after posting this thread. Oh well..
My AVAST would not update, it couldn't “connect to server”.
I uninstalled AVAST, had to clear out every record of it and I installed AVG. AVG immediately found two corrupted registry files.
I was afraid to remove them until I had done searches at Google. I put them in the Vault and have had no trouble since!!
WHY Free Republic was the main site I couldn't get to is a mystery.
I received this exact same Avast warning when I signed into AOL earlier today. Anyone else have the same issue?
.
Aha
I hope that fixes it
.
But why one site seemed to be singled out is strange unless there's something here that was detected - and we won't talk about that, lol.
.
I know of one simple thing that will block or slow down certain users
But I sure will not post it here!
.
I have Avast too and didn’t detect it. And I am always updated.
That’s a very interesting comment devolve
AOL, I haven’t heard of them for so long that I thought they went out of business.
Thanks for your help.
Got this too tonight.
I got the exact message when I went to the Daily Mail from a FR link.
I think Avast may have set their sensitivity a bit higher than needed, or a parameter got fudged somehow.
I got the message when I went to Mapquest earlier today.
Something like that happened to me months ago only it was the opposite.
AVG messed up and after removing every last bit of it and installing Avast, several problems were found.
Apparently no security software is perfect.
Hi LJ, Lol I had to search back for your comment as I got behind.
I’ve gone back and forth on antivirus programs and have had both mess up over the years. But - I probably do more downloading of graphics and music than most people and sometimes pick up things.
Right now AVG is working fine and I just knocked on wood, lol.
