Evil 'Church' to Protest Elizabeth Taylor's Funeral
TMZ.com ^ | 3/23/2011 | TMZ Staff

Posted on 03/23/2011 4:23:52 PM PDT by ColdOne

Those horrible, intolerant, heartless gay-haters at the Westboro Baptist Church are preparing to spread their evil message at Elizabeth Taylor's funeral ... a higher power tells TMZ.

Margie Phelps -- daughter of WBC Pastor Fred Phelps -- took to Twitter today to announce the church is going to picket non-lesbian Liz's funeral ... all because Liz was apparently some sort of gay "enabler" and (God forbid) an AIDS activist.

Protesting at funerals is just unseemly, I don’t care who you are.

Oh spare me. This church group must knock it off. I was for the Supreme Court ruling because I don’t want them going against conservatives the next time, but this is just ridiculous. I can’t believe someone hasn’t stopped them.

These people make me so mad. I saw THAT woman on foxnews a week or so ago. I listened to her for about a minute and just couldn’t take it anymore. What they are doing is evil. It also makes Christian’s look bad to those who don’t know any except these loud mouth vile people.

The Phelps might meet their Waterloo at this funeral. Liz was an advocate for homosexuals and AIDS, and I imagine there will be hundreds of people at the funeral, who will leap at the chance to get hold of the protesters.

As soon as I clicked to post, I thought, you know it’s not always about Christians, this is more about what they are making God look like. And He is NOT what they are portraying.

Evil Church is an oxymoron. Since the biblical definition is basically an extension of Christ’s body, “where two or more are gathered..”

This may sound like an admonishment. It’s not. I’m just so disgusted with this people.

I don’t know how it’s possible to stop them, as long as they have First Amendment protection. I bet the “church” was started just for cover for their evil protests. I really can’t figure out their point.

THAT is a very bigoted, ill-informed remark. I am not a Baptist but neither is Fred Phelps or any of his disgusting family.

I’d volunteer to join the line to protect the funeral, not that I was a big fan of Liz Taylor.
They are losers picking the low bottom fruit. Where were they at Ted Kennedy’s funeral? Will they be at the 1st Bush funeral?
Got to believe ther would be a LARGE presence of military there.
Someone - IRS - needs to examine their tax status, and if they really qualify as a tax exempt church...and their members too.

They're not 'Baptists'. They're not a Church. They are lawyers deliberately looking for a payday by getting someone - anyone - to attack them.

That's what Justice Alito thought, but the other eight Justices disagreed with him.

How come it takes this group of freaks threatening to protest Elizabeth Taylor before the left will call them evil?

The left didn’t think they were evil when they were protesting at soldiers funerals.

You just won the bet.

Westboro is not a church at all. It's a collection of leftist lawyers headed by Fred Phelps, a civil rights activist (recipient of multiple awards from the racist NAACP and other black outfits). Phelps and his family campaigned for Al Gore.

In short, they're just a bunch of anti-American demonRATS cloaking themselves in the misleading name of a "Baptist Church".

I think they’re being bankrolled by some leftist group. They were FOG (Friends of Gore) & held fundraisers for him when he ran for the Democratic Presidential Candidacy; the Phelps had their picture taken with him. - I also think part of why they’re being bankrolled is to make Christians look bad. It’s fishy; I mean Gore was a gay enabler from way back.

When the MSM covers this, let's look for any mention that Fred Phelps is a Democrat, a disbarred attorney "who has five times been a candidate for political office in Kansas Democratic Party primaries."

As for Phelps's status as a Baptist, the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) is listed in Wikipedia as the largest association of Baptists in America, and they say this about Democrat Phelps and his crew:

20. Is Fred Phelps (the pastor of the Westboro Baptist Church and leader of those who protest under the slogan "God Hates Fags") or his church affiliated with the SBC?

We share concern over the unbiblical views and offensive tactics of Fred Phelps and his followers at Westboro (Independent) Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas. Westboro does not have now, nor has ever had, any relationship with the Southern Baptist Convention. His extreme positions not only stand in contrast to the SBC, more importantly, they stand in contrast to God's Word. Scripture clearly teaches that homosexual behavior is sinful in the eyes of a just and holy God; but the Bible also clearly proclaims God’s love for all sinners, including homosexuals, and that He offers forgiveness to all who repent and place their faith in the atoning death of Jesus Christ for our sins.

But of course, none of that serves the MSM's agenda nearly as well as stories about "Fred Phelps, typical hate-filled conservative religious nut."

I think you are correct about them not being real Christians and using it to make Christians look bad. I felt that way about them first time I heard THAT woman talking. Yah, I really couldn't agree with that statement less. If you had known my old grandaddy, decon of a Southern Baptist church in Shawnee, OK, you would change your mind. The man was good God-fearing Jesus-loving people, he walked the walk. I don't know if "most" Baptists have his honor but I really wish you could have met Otho Orville Oliver.

RIP Grandpa.

Q: What is the difference between Westboro Baptist Church and Coney Island?
A: You can see the freaks for free at Westboro Baptist, and they are far more exotic than performers with multiple body piercings, human blockheads, and so on.

Q: Why is the Westboro Baptist Church God’s house?
A: The Devil had first choice and he took Hell.

Q: Why is Fred Phelps the Lord’s servant?
A: The Devil had first choice and he took White Aryan Resistance leader Tom Metzger.

I have some off-color ones as well but this is a family-friendly site.

Fred Phelps thinks he and his family are the only ones who are "saved." Everybody else is going to Hell. Of course, eternal damnation would HAVE to include the company of the Phelps family so there is something wrong with that assertion.

http://fredphelps.com/

"Phelps says he is an old school Baptist, which includes John Calvin’s doctrine of unconditional election, the belief that God has elected certain people for salvation before birth. He says that almost nobody is a member of the elect, and furthermore that he and the members of his congregation (mostly his family) are the only members of the elect, because they are the only ones not afraid to publish the current relevant application of the word of God"
