What is happening with OWN?

It started out so promising....and over the last few weeks, I can't find any reason to watch it. I keep on seeing alot of "shock" medical shows and garbage and repeats from Discovery Health. Does anybody know what happened? I would have thought that Oprah would be alot more on the ball with this project.

There’s a series of documentaries by Lisa Ling on OWN, which are meant to shock, I think.

One I saw was on the transgendered in America. One was about gays and Christianity, whether gays can pray and be cured, etc. One was about men who go overseas to find foreign brides. Every one perhaps meant more to shock than be really informative about a subject.

If anyone says that OWN has infomercials in the middle of the night, I will be shocked, just shocked!

She took an outstanding channel (Discovery Health) and flushed it.

I used to watch Discovery Health sometimes - there was some interesting/funny stuff on there occasionally. When my husband realized the OWN connection - he forbade anyone in the house from watching it. Sometimes he's dogmatic like that LOL So maybe there are lots of other husbands out there who did the same thing and some other wives who respect their husbands' wishes.

Or it could be that it's all gotten uninteresting.

From what I’ve seen they start about 11pm.I don’t watch it but when flipping through the channels I have to go past it.

The fit channel is now the Discovery Heath and Fitness channel just so you know they run the same shws at night as the old Discovery Health did and in the morning the fitness shows are on.

I have seen ads for shows on OWN, but never even looked to see if I get it. If it is anything like Diecovery’s Planet Green it is a few original shows and re-runs of other Discovery network shows.
