BOLLINGER COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - A Bollinger County deputy resigned after an incident at a domestic violence call goes awry.

Sheriff Leo McElrath says Deputy Kelly Barks arrested the man at the scene, and then got his permission to search the residence.

When Barks went inside, she saw the man's three dogs growling at her. She thought one of them bit her, shot him, and went outside. After realizing she was fine, she went back into the residence where McElrath says the dog was still acting aggressive, so she shot him again.

But the aggressive dog, probably isn't what you would think.

"When I found out the dog that was shot was a Chihuahua...

From site comments on the full article (the article is worth reading in full)comes this interesting remark:

JustMe0807

Wow...I knew that it was a matter of time. She has a VERY short fuse and is horrible with kids too. I hope and pray that she is never allowed to be a cop again! If BOCO had done a thorough enough background check on her...they would have found out that she was fired from her previous law enforcement job as well. Hopefully the next people who hire her will do a better job checking her out so this doesn't happen again.

She needed to shoot a Chihuahua three times????

Yeah, that’s pathetic.
She probably missed the first two times, a nine millimeter would obliterate a chihuahua.

Cops shooting dogs is an American tradition. Wild Bill Hickok was paid 50¢ for every dog he shot while a “peace officer” in Abilene in 1871.

I don’t like dogs and especially yapping dogs, but a chihuahua? What was the wimpy cop afraid of, the dog coming up and biting his big toe?

One of these dog killers needs to go to prison in a widely publicized case. Then perhaps the LEO community will get the message that they don’t have a free license to kill any creature who annoys them. It sounds like this particular nut case has a past.

Read Kipling’s “The Female Of The Species Is More Deadly Than The Male”?

;-)

If the family has a lawyer, Ossifer Barks will be correctly presented to the jury as the barking mad whacko she really is.

Moo, MOO, MOOLAH ! ! !

Somewhere, a lawyer is getting ready to make the family and himself rich because a whacko woman was given a gun & badge.

My ex-wife has a chihuahua. It's a mean, 't even go into the house without the thing trying to attack you. NOBODY likes that stupid dog.

I'd give the officer a medal.

Had this piece of human excrement shot MY puppy, she would not have left the scene alive.

My parents had a chihuahua.

I would've pinned a medal on any law enforcement officer who would've shot the thing. It was the World's Most Obnoxious Dog, bar none. (Spoiled rotten by my parents). Bark, growl, snap. Bark bark bark bark bark bark bark.

Now I see or hear the world "chihuahua" I snarl. Conditioned response.

I can't resist saying it though: Officer Barks was obviously worse than the dog's bite!!

Nope, the best that could be hoped is recovery for the value of the dog - $100 at most. I'm guessing the police department will give them $500 or so to go buy a new yapper.

Y'all didn't adopt that dog from an older couple who went into a nursing home, did you?

Sounds just like the one my parents had. My SIL found it a good home, or so she and my brother said. I have not inquired too closely.

The only dog that ever bit me was a my Grandma's Chihuahua.

It was a very old and it's tooth fell out when it bit me. My Grandma got mad at me for causing her dog to lose one of the few teeth it had left.
