Gee if the dumb-o-crats ran this show they would have counted all the dead peoples votes and then she would still been there.

Good grief. I haven’t seen this much hysteria since Chris Daughtry was voted off. American Idol tells their viewers that they get to decide who stays and who goes. Then, when the viewers do just that, the show tells them they’re stupid and wrong.

Many are shocked that Pia was voted off, but not everyone. I wasn’t shocked, and here is a review that anyone still around this thread might get a kick of out. This reviewer called it correctly before the fact. Something I stumbled across:

Here’s a theory I read that I believe gives a good explanation for why it happened:

This season we are allowed to vote online 50 votes max. What that does is free up the lines for the boppers to go wild. And they are going wild. The voting system has been a mess since the show started. Something will have to change. I’m sure Idol thought doing the internet voting would help. Bad plan.

Idol’s new voting system has backfired and backfired badly. And anyone who thinks Idol is rigged you can put that one back up on the shelf. If Haley or Lauren goes next week the season that started as the greatest will quickly lose its luster.

Until the voting system finds a way to make it one vote per person, the voting will NEVER be an accurate accounting of who really thinks which one of the contestants is the best. Voting should NEVER be about how many times you can vote.

Imagine if we could do that at the presidential level! We’d never have a Republican president ever again!! At most, one vote should be allowed according to the number of contestants left, so if you are for all of them you can spread it out this way

.

That’s been my feeling, too. She smiles, flashes her teeth, nods and sings just like a lot of fabulous singers. Nothing unique about her.

I am rooting for rags to (hopefully) riches, rocker, James Durbin. His voice is awesome, but his likeable factor is waaay up there. His humility is admirable, too.

I have felt James could win when Chris Medina was cut. I never thought Pia would have the votes to go all the way, but I also never thought she’d go home before #3.

These multiple vote schemes are unusual, but it seems all the similar shows use it. Actually, I've watched Britain's Got Talent more the last couple of years than any US show, over the internet. I'm terrible at predicting how the Brits will vote. Each year there were young performers I thought would finish in the top three, or even win with a huge youth vote.

But one year a dance/drill team group won, and last year a gymnastics/acrobat group won. The young acts finished in the bottom five each year. The voting blocks never seem to be what I expect.

As I said earlier, I've only watched the past two weeks of AI and wasn't that impressed with Pia. Didn't like her rendition of Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me. Songs need to be interpreted and not used as excuses to show off a singer's powerful voice. Pia just put too much volume and power in that song for me, and she missed the meaning of it entirely, IMO.

I like Alaina (sp?) so far. She has a big voice, also, but seems to use it more appropriately for the songs she sings.

I love Scotty McCreery, and yes, even Paul Granted, he isn’t the best singer, but, he holds your attention. That’s called stage presence, which Pia sorely lacked. People want to compare her to Carrie Underwood, who also lacked stage presence. However, to me, there was a huge difference. Carrie had a glimmer of personality, which I didn’t see in Pia.

I didn’t realize that comedienne Roseanne Barr was known for singing well. Maybe because she isn’t. So one has to wonder why they ever asked her to sing???

You can tell from that picture how insecure she is.

If you aren’t interested in American Idol, why bother to even view this thread?

American Idol is fun. There are some pretty seriously talented people on it.

Life doesn’t have to be all about politics.
