Budget bill includes delisting of wolves (ID & MT)

Gray wolves in Montana and Idaho would be taken off the endangered list under the budget bill pending before Congress, two Western lawmakers said.

Inclusion of the language to lift protections for wolves was confirmed by the offices of Montana Democratic Sen. Jon Tester and Idaho Republican Rep. Mike Simpson on Saturday.

"It's high time for a predictable, practical law that finally delists Montana's wolves and returns their management to our state — for the sake of our wildlife, our livestock, and for the jobs that rely on them," Tester said in a statement.

Outstanding. I hope that the state legislatures in these states take it upon themselves to declare open season on these varmints, and the hunters who live there wipe them out.

The legislatures won’t declare open season on wolves if this passes but they will establish hunting seasons to keep wolf numbers down.

Wyoming has be the holdup in returning wolf management to the states because they were going with a shoot on sight policy and the feds aren’t going for it.

I don’t think this is over by a long shot yet though, it has been and still is a real can of worms.

I think any wolf that has been found to transited within a mile of live stock can be hunted down and killed via helicopter.

That would be a good start.

I know many are still going to be angry with the wolves killing of other wildlife for sport. They kill without eating, just for the pure joy of killing.

I just don’t think they will let us stamp them out completely (you would need poisons to do it) and by just killing the ones near livestock we should really reduce their population. Wolves are smart enough to stay away from human live stock, you can’t train it out of them.

So please don’t flame me, I hate the wolves too, but I am trying to be realistic. Environmentalist transplants to these states are going to scream, always city folk trying to enforce their will on the country folk.

Simpson spokeswoman Nikki Watts said the bill also would prevent courts from reversing any Congressional action.

Excellent!

Emperor Molloy won't be happy about this -- ha ha!

Thanks for the ping!

Agreed. This will surely tick off Molloy because the enviro-nazis can no longer rely on him to rule for them.

***Environmentalist transplants to these states are going to scream, always city folk trying to enforce their will on the country folk.***

Perhaps, just as a way to balance the budgets in the Western states, a non-0commercial, recreational season for the taking of Liberals could be neacted?

The fees could be quite high because there are many who would much rather have such a permit than even a sheep permit. Lawyers would also like the proposed Liberal Season because of all thh divorces it would cause. “You are NOT going to take that thing to the taxidermist!”

And the fight began.

;-)

LOL

I used to live in the country, we used to get so upset with these people coming out to the country and trying to control how we live.

I had a rich fellow when I was little actually steal my kill. I was little and was out hunting privative style with a rock and throwing stick. I killed a rabbit and this guy screamed and yelled at me being cruel and telling me he moved out to the country to see nature and not destroy it.

He picked up my kill and took it to the back yard of the house he was renting and buried it.

Later, when he caught up with my parents he complained. My Parents were shocked that this city slicker would let good meat go to waste by burying it in his yard.

Some people are dumber than a sack full of rocks.

The Sierra Club and the U.S. Forest Service were presenting an alternative to the Wyoming ranchers for controlling the wolf population. It seems that after years of the ranchers using the tried and true method of shooting or trapping the predators, the Sierra Club had a “more humane” solution to this issue. What they were proposing was for the animals to be captured alive. The males would then be castrated and let loose again. This was ACTUALLY proposed by the Sierra Club and by the U.S. Forest Service. All of the ranchers thought about this amazing idea for a couple of minutes. Finally an old fellow wearing a big cowboy hat in the back of the conference room stood up, tipped his hat back and said; “Son, I don’t think you understand our problem here... these wolves ain’t (expletive deleted) our sheep... they’re eatin’ ‘em!” The meeting never really got back to order.

LOL! I’ve read that and in the real world that’s exactly the respect enviro-nazis should be afforded.

I had started to think that the Congress abdicated this constitutional power.
