Tiger turns in an amazing front nine. If it holds, could be one of the best come backs in a long time.
Ga-ga-Gag!
Tiger has talent and little true class.
He is a immoral reprobate who has disgraced himself.
He deserves no honor no matter how well he can swing a golf club.
So I’m guessing you’re not a fan...
Get over it. Everybody deserves a second chance.
Go Rory!
I just want to see him rub a major victory in the face of those sports pundits who have been declaring his career dead.
He’s a golfer not a person people should look up to for moral guidance, he and all of those at the masters have talent that plays a game that many love- I celebrate their determination, skill and dedication to the game
“Who cares?’
I do, obviously. I’m a fellow sinner who appreciates greatness.
I remember Mcilroy made a stupid statement on the Golf Channel about a few weeks back about America being weak’ (it was in the tone) and that he also hates coming here.
It wasn’t in the news but the Golf Channel reporter was stunned.
He’s a limey prick.
We all know he’s a jerkwad sex-addict who cheated on his wife.
His wife got more than $50 million in the settlement. Move on..
Just saw him gag a 6 foot putt.
I know I would spontaneously soil myself followed immediately by a little projectile vomiting.
There is a lot of steel at this match and its great to watch.
He has God-given athletic ability. He chose to use that ability to be a role model for self aggrandizement and immoral behavior.
Greatness is not in a golf swing. Greatness is in character, and what one does to help his fellow man. How many USO tours has Woods been on? How many hospitals has he toured? The answer is somewhere near zero.
One of his conquests is the just-legal daughter of a friend of ours. She worshiped him since she was 14. He turned that teenage crush into another place to bury his pee-pee.
He is nothing more than in immoral prick.
Tiger is the role model for every Black kid who things money, acquired in any way possible, is a guarantee of special treatment and a cessation of the requirement to lead a moral, just life.
Stop and think for a moment what his kids are going to experience for the rest of their lives, the snickers, the put-downs.
He is no better than some BA rapper. Both have talent. Woods just fooled us for a while that he is a nice guy.
Digging on people who live in the public eye when they screw up is a way for losers to feel better about themselves.
Tiger will now never be a better golfer than Nicklaus because Nicklaus achieved all he did while sustaining a marriage and a family. Something Tiger has proven incapable of doing. Tiger knows he blew the more important of the two endeavors. Will he win again? Sure, but it will be hollow because he lost at what was really important. His commitment to his family.
Woods is an incredible golfer, there's no disputing that. However, talent, be it in athletics, entertainment, the arts, business, or whatever, DOES NOT equate moral character.
Tiger mastered the art of APPEARING in public to be a great role model. He didn't cover himself in tattoos or surround himself with thugs, but in private he used financial blackmail to treat his wife like a doormat and used his fame to treat impressionable young women like whores.
In the end, he proved himself to be exactly the negative role model that so many contrasted him against.
Tiger may be the best golfer of all time but he will never be the greatest. Character is part of greatness. The two can not be seperate.
“He has God-given athletic ability.”
And hitting twenty million golf balls. I it ... “it’s God given.” BS.
Tiger is up there in his behavior with other horribly screwed up sports heroes, like Babe Ruth and Mickey Mantle and all the others above whom you obviously tower, morally. They haven’t been pilloried, though. Wonder why?
Get over it.
Breaking News: Sex addict ties for lead at Masters!
“Breaking News: Sex addict ties for lead at Masters!”
Actually, it was posted under sports. The tie is not noteworthy, coming from six back at the Master’s is. Most true sports fans will appreciate that accomplishment, it’s pretty amazing. He’s playing a sport, not vying for canonization.
Not possible for Tiger to be doing so well.
Phil was going to be #1 and win every major.
Reported in the papers today that McIlroy carried on to the annoyance of the neighbors late last night. Guess he thought he had it won.
Maturity missing.
McIlroy self-destructed today. Hopefully, he’ll learn something.
As for Tiger, he’s not going to win it. I hope he gets his life turned around.
“In other words, most true sports fans will dismiss the importance of morality, integrity and character of an individual simply because of some athletic achievement.”
Yep.
Sporting News top all time ballplayer;
1 Babe Ruth
You could look it up. Why? Why him?
Cripes. #3 is Ty Cobb. Hmmmppppppppphhhhh.
Tiger is an anomaly in Golf, with the exception of John Daley, for sure. But it’s not unusual for the greatest in many endeavors to be the most flawed.
He still garners all the announcers' accolades and white-guilt replays/sound bites/etc. over, and over, and over.....to the tune of sickening.
He's back in the pack, now.
Are you certain about that? Reading some of the replies on this thread, I can't be sure.
Oh. To further answer your question, in case you have yet to realize it, people who make the pilgrimage to Augusta are usually more than just casual watchers of the game. Tiger got a real warm reception (including standing ovations) all the way around. He’s apologized, he’s kept his nose clean and he’s coughed up $50 million cash, not to mention the hundreds of millions in endorsement fees. Yet there is still venom. I wonder if there is something else at play?
If John Daley could stay sober long enough to find the course, or take some time off from brawling with one of his “girlfriends” in the street, everyone would be rooting for him. The Babe sure got off easy and he made Tiger look like a choir boy. At least Tiger wasn’t a public reprobate. I find it ... odd. Like there is something else that inspires hatred of Tiger.
“He’s back in the pack, now.”
Yep. There is some great golf being played out there.
Don’t like that cheat stick that Adam Scott is using.
Tiger who?
Tiger is just another golfer out there now.
Tiger who?
Woods. He’s a golfer.
Tiger - Tied as the 4th loser.
Tiger certainly cannot intimidate like he used to, earlier in his career the other golfers would have buckled under the pressure of knowing Tiger was after them, those days are over.
Schwartzel wins...as long as some America-hating Euro twit like Mcilroy doesn’t win, I;m happy.
I think he said, "Sure glad I was not chosen as a comacazzi pilot".
Us?
Bitter much?
Yup, he’s a good golfler, but he shurely blew it for me as a good person.
Eldrick played the last 10 holes in even par. He had his chance and couldn’t take advantage.
[snip]
Like there is something else that inspires hatred of Tiger.
Thinly-veiled references to racism...isn't that typically a liberal tactic?
Babe Ruth lived in a different media era. I guarantee you that if news broke that Phil Mickelson was the same kind of moral reprobate as Tiger, there would be at least as much disdain for Phil, and even more from the media.
Thinly-veiled references to racism...isn’t that typically a liberal tactic?”
Oh, shoot, you caught me! Yeah, I’m a liberal, alright.
Why do they allow those so fake bird sounds in the background of the Masters?
Like what?
Eldrick played the last 10 holes in even par. He had his chance and couldnt take advantage.”
Yep. He took a pretty good run at it on the front nine, but fell on the backside - kind of opposite of what he usually does at Augusta. First round he’s played in a long time though where he looked like himself...his putter failed him. Hell of a shot on 15, thought he might shake it off, but there were some pretty good young players out there that closed. I never saw an ending with that many guys in the hunt. Good new crop of young players from European Tour.
