Start your day off with a smile on your heart by checking out what a security camera caught at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo NY. It's a very brief news report about a Deer that is defending the nest of a goose. The male goose has died and now the mother must fend off the danger to her eggs alone. She made her nest in an urn and and until a deer showed up to give some help the mother goose had no chance of her eggs ever hatching. Now when she goes off to forage for food the deer protects her nest like her mate used to. The deer even takes a protective stance against humans and even attempting to fend off a barking dog near the area of the urn.
It truly is nature at its finest, will no doubt make you think of the cartoons our children watch where the animals are all one happy family. So, if come hunting season you are someplace in upper NY and have a choice deer in your site, don't be too surprised if a goose attacks you when you are ready to shoot. It just might be a certain goose returning a favor to an old friend.
Check out the deer that is helping a mother goose protect her nest. One of God's creations defending another.

Thanks for sharing this sweet, sweet story.
Thanks for the ping!
Nature can surely make for some strange relationships. I was watching something on TV the other night about a dog who befriended an orphaned tiger cub and now the two are inseparable.
Geese, for all their beauty however, can be very mean and viscious birds, especially if there are little ones around.
Cute.
Not far from me, this was on the news and caught alot of attention. Then the Buffalo News named right where it was and tons of people were driving there to see this.
Great story OV. Love it.
This will be an even more interesting story if the eggs should hatch and the chicks imprint on the deer as being one of their parents..........LOL!
Both my parents were pre-arranged with a local funeral home which handled Dad's services and arrangements just fine; but between his passing and Mom's leaving us, Forest Lawn took over.
When she died, I had to do and sign everything - and I mean hours of everything - (except paying, of course) over again,"The Forest Lawn way", to get her buried.......and then the final insult was they stole one of the Death Certificates that I had paid for, so that they could get reimbursed by the insurer.
That was the last straw, and I'll bet they still remember me from a bit over two years ago.
I needed this feel good, thanks.
Welcome back.
“Chase the geese away to prevent them from um, ah er, damaging the area.”
Delicately put.
Amazing!!
Unfortunately, Forest Lawns are treating the dead with disrespect nationwide now!
