(NewsCore) - Italian police arrested a Naples butcher after discovering worm-infested meat for sale in his store that was 10 years past its expiry date, the ANSA news agency reported Friday.
Shocked food safety inspectors discovered pasta and biscuits crawling with parasites, rotting meats and dairy products, and olives covered in mold in the store of horrors.
The butcher tampered with expiry dates on the products in order to keep on selling the items, even though some were a decade old, the report said.
Police arrested the butcher on suspicion of endangering public health.
Aren’t maggots a rich source of protein?
A glaring case of meatism.
I lived in the Naples area for three years when I was growing up.
Mom bought our meat at the Commissary, though.
Mmm Mmm! Maggots!
At one of the stores, they used bleach to remove the ink on the expiration dates on the chicken packages. Then they’ll write in a different expiration date by hand in pen. I’m not joking.
I think the administration is trying to get people to eat insects as snacks. The Obongos have a thing for the third world.
This is worse that meat and chickens hanging outside in Mexican markets with flies all over it, or maybe not.
I wonder how many of his customers he killed?
“Slimy, yet satisfying.”
Better watch what you say. The UN is about to endow maggots with “human rights”.
The already do - many of them live in the middle east and in select european countries and the far east. Actually, they are almost everywhere.
So I guess you taste supper while supper tastes you!
Yep, Food Lion is something else. My wife and I called them "The Experience", because whenever one of us got back home from shopping there, we would say "You won't believe the experience I just had at Food Lion". Their green bacon was quite a sight.
The law of supply and demand caught up with them locally. We have a nice supply of decent grocery stores, so the populace demanded that Food Lion take a hike.
Anybody watch “Filthy London, Filthy New York” on the Discovery Channel last night????
Major upchuck!
My local upscale supermarket has a section where they dump deeply discounted meat for quick sale. I call it the Green Meat Section.
So that’s where I got worms from ...
LOL
Sounds worse than lutefisk.
