Passion of the Christ on TBN
Trinity Broadcasting Network ^ | 4/17/11 | Self

"The Passion Of The Christ" follows the last twelve hours of Jesus's life from his emotional turmoil in the Garden of Gethsemane until his final moments of the crucifixion.

Director Mel Gibson brings the struggle and sacrifice of Jesus (portrayed by Jim Caviezel) to life, like nothing ever seen before. Viewers must be cautioned that due to the graphic violence displayed in depicting the horrific death Jesus endured for us, this film is rated TV-MA-V.

TOPICS: Religion; TV/Movies
KEYWORDS: christianity; jesus; melgibson; movie
The 2004 film is scheduled to air several times this week on TBN (Trinity Broadcast Network) without commercial breaks. Tonight (April 17, 2011), it airs at 7:00 PM and 10:30 PM Eastern time.

It is a powerful, sobering, and (for those of us who love Jesus) painful film to watch. Parts of the film are brutal in their intensity and I do not reccommend letting young children watch it.

And this movie broke some box office records when it was in theaters, didn’t it?

There’s a huge untapped market for movies with religious or values themes.

But will mainstream Hollywood give us more like this? No, instead we have to have movies about casual sex, homosexual cowboys, lesbian headed families, and all the other trash we see from Hollywood. In Hollywood, making a political statement about homosexuality or global warming takes priority over making money.

Isn’t it interesting that when people talk about the magic of Hollywood, greatest movies ever, etc. they always talk about those made years ago? Years ago, there were actually attempts made to keep movies clean enough for the whole family, and focus on telling a story, not gratuitous sex and violence.

My husband and I saw this with 3 other couples when it first came out. The theater was jam packed and yet other than crying and sniffing one could hear a pin drop. No unnecessary chatter at all.

This was a powerful movie and I don't know if I can watch it a second time. It tore me apart but it made me realize exactly what He did for me.

I believe I heard it made a billion dollars, world-wide!

And I've seen Jim Caviziel in other movies; he is one fine actor with the "Count of Monte Cristo" one of his finest roles!

I remember after watching that in the theater... the Apostle’s Creed... “he suffered under Pontius Pilate.” The word “suffered” doesn’t even come close to what Jesus went through because of His love for us.

Thanks for the heads-up!

You're welcome. It's mere minutes away from starting as I post this. I just now found out that there will be a one hour special after the film called "Changed Lives: Miracles of the Passion". Here's the description:

After viewing the film entitled "The Passion of the Christ", people reveal the many events the film has inspired, including relationships being restored, atheists accepting Christ as Saviour, diseases healed and much more.
