iPad responsible for thousands of lost US jobs ( Socialist Attitudes revealed )

Claims representative Jesse Jackson Jr.

While it’s not a secret that yours truly isn’t a big fan of the iPad, that’s as far as he is willing to go. However, representative Jesse Jackson Jr. recently said that the iPad is at fault for loss of many US jobs, which really makes us look meek in criticism.

Speaking in the Congress, Jackson said that the practical aspect of the iPad made Borders close stores and renders Barnes & Noble obsolete. Apparently, Jackson thinks that downloading newspapers, magazines and books to your iPad is ultimately detrimental for the economy.

Jackson argued that the freshman class of Chicago State University in his district is not even using textbooks. Instead, they’re all given iPads.  Jackson inquired as to the fate of publishing companies, bookstores, librarians and the paper industry in general. He suggested that these jobs will soon no longer exist but judging by Mister Jackson’s perception of the culprit, we’re somehow confident he’s more worried for the rolling paper industry.

“Steve Jobs is doing pretty well”, Jackson said and continued “He’s created the iPad. Certainly, it has made life more efficient for Americans, but the iPad is produced in China. It is not produced here in the United States. So, the Chinese get to take advantage of our First Amendment value — that is to provide freedom of speech through the iPad to the American people. But there is no protection for jobs here in America to ensure that the American people are being put to work.”

After seeing the iPad becoming a big “success”, I can confidently say that many people didn’t read Emperor’s New Clothes when they were kids. The device is extremely overpriced for what it offers and most of the cash pays for vanity and immeasurable quantities such as lifestyle. Naturally, most don’t care.

The best part of Jackson's rant is that we can finally say that we’re only directing mild criticism towards the iPad. If you don’t think what we've just said qualifies for ‘mild criticism’, then hop over here and read Jackson’s transcript.

An ipad made in the US would probably cost $3000 dollars...at least. I remember seeing the US-made equivalent of the iphone last year. The cost of labor would have made the device unaffordable for all but the wealthy. Instead, virtually anyone can purchase. These union-loving socialists are a primary driver in shifting manufacturing and other jobs out of the US. The ever increasing costs of labor, regulations, and political graft is a major driver in costs.

Borders close stores and renders Barnes & Noble obsolete

You mean the same stores that hide books written by conservatives? Good riddance.

100 years ago, geniuses like the Reverend Jackson were castigating Henry Ford for putting all of those buggy whip manufacturers out of business.

Jesse Jackson does not seem to know about American innovation and entrepenurial spirit.

If he had been alive back in the time of Henry Ford, he would have been complaining about the lose of buck wagon and saddle making jobs.

In some ways, jesse jr. has stumbled upon the truth. The iPad, in our services organization, will ultimately lead to us getting rid of two departments -

Why? because prior to the iPad, we could get an ROI on giving laptops into part-time workers hands, so they faxed in everything creating double-entry. Now, with the iPad at 500-600, we can get the technology ROI in a short period of time AND eliminate all of the fax/double data-entry processes. Plus it gets rid of QA.

More on the Jackson Rant:

Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. goes on an anti-tech rant, blames the iPad for U.S. job losses

***********************************************************

April 16, 2011 at 3:44 pm by John Cook

Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. appears to think technology gadgets — including tablet computers like the iPad — are the reason this country is shedding jobs. Really? The Illinois Congressman went on one of the more outrageous anti-technology rants on Friday on the floor of Congress. We transcribed the remarks below, since we couldn’t really believe what we were hearing.

“A few short weeks ago I came to the House floor after having purchased an iPad and said that I happened to believe, Mr. Speaker, that at some point in time this new device, which is now probably responsible for eliminating thousands of American jobs. Now Borders is closing stores because, why do you need to go to Borders anymore? Why do you need to go to Barnes & Noble? Buy an iPad, download your book, download your newspaper, download your magazine.

Chicago State University, in my congressional district, in freshman class, they are not being given textbooks any longer. They are all being given iPads as they enter school. President Wayne Watson hopes to have a textbook-less campus in four years, where at this state university they will no longer have textbooks.

Well, what becomes of publishing companies and publishing company jobs? And what becomes of bookstores and librarians and all of the jobs associated with paper? Well, in the not too distant future, such jobs simply will not exist. Steve Jobs is doing pretty well. He’s created the iPad.

Jackson didn’t take on the Kindle or any other high-tech device, most of which are assembled overseas. But he probably hated this recent headline on GeekWire: “Sales of ‘e-books’ soar, now the #1 format over paper.”

I actually had a hard time believing what I was hearing, but luckily Real Clear Politics has video of the remarks.

I guess you could debate whether products assembled in China are good for the U.S. economy or not, but most would agree that employing the smart people who design, develop and engineer the products is not such a bad thing.

Did Jesse Jackson Jr. simply forget about that?

The man's as dumb as a brick, and looks it too. Since the iPod is manufactured by the cheapest means possible, it affordable to the greatest number of people. Those iPod owners not only make Apple a competitive and profitable concern, thus employing thousands of U.S. corporate workers more highly paid than factory drones, but it also creates huge industry for the suppliers of music, who would not otherwise enjoy the royalties that the iTunes so widely disseminated provide to them.

We're getting closer to the point where the gummint has to take down Apple.

See: Microsoft, AT&T and Standard Oil.

And the stock market is down 2% as I write. Any correlation?

Jesse is partially right. The Internet that was invented by Al Gore has resulted in Millions of jobs leaving the USA as computers have made it possible for hard working citizens of the world to compete for jobs with US companies.

Our US companies have moved their jobs overseas to avoid Unionization, Taxation, EPA, OSHA, DOL and many other government organiztions that drive up the cost of doing business in the USA. Sad thing when American is not a nation of TAKERS and not workers. We have far too many folks living on the handouts and that is a result of people like Jesse Jackson JR and SR.

Yes the Ipad has helped to create the possibilities of people in other parts of the world doing the jobs that were once American.

Welcome to Obummer’s world.

Is Mr. Jackson, jr., not worried about the poor trees that are sacrificed to support those industries? Heartless! Doesn't he know that ink is a petroleum product? Is he in favor of destroying the planet? Wait until Obama hears about this. He will be in serious trouble!
