See you next week Scythian:) ((((((Hugs))))))
With the kind of talent that Scyth has, I am surprised that one these PREZ candidates hasn’t hired him onto their top staff ... at $800/day. The inhumanity of it all.
While it takes nerve and guts and courage and maybe even gonads to fight the Rovians, you can do it. You make some good points. It’s going to be an interesting two years, and you are definitely among likemindeds. So stay.
The very funny thing is that even the Perotian feArs could be wrong, this is different, Clinton I is not the known Obama.
And it’s only April 2011. You would have to stay away nearly two years. You won’t want to.
Stay and fight. You are not alone.

We’re doomed! Why bother fighting? Much better to just surrender now and let it be done with. /sarc

Ironic.
Scythian,
I hope you rethink on this issue. It’s like your dropping
your guns on the battle field and saying I’ll be back later.
We can start by calling it the “First American Party”
not a 3rd Party. It needs to be repackaged.
Because Iowa and South Carolina GOP primary voters are so liberal right?
If a RINO like Romney gets the nomination it will most likely be because movement conservatives and Tea Party folks split their vote.
2) A true Conservative Tea Party Candidate will have to run under the Tea Party label to be elected. The Rovites will be on the FR in droves stating "That a vote for a 3rd party is a vote for a Democrat" again. Sadly, most Freepers will fall for it and vote for the RINO despite all the big talk.
It doesn't take a "Roveite" to see that splitting the anti-Obama vote between 2 political party's when the left is not splitting their vote will most certainly result in an Obama victory. Are you already forgetting Ross Perot in 92' and 96'?
This sounds like a bunch of QQ that people won't buy into your 3rd party candidate ideas.
3) In the meantime, the forums are going to get ugly, I mean real "mad dog" ugly. As many as 1/3 of more of the people posting will be hired guns, here to disrupt and tell Freepers which candidates cannot be elected. You'll know who they are if pay attention.
Yes, people will debate the pluses and minuses of the various candidates. So what? That is healthy. And pushing 3rd party bids is just plain self defeating, so yes, the people who do that are going to get criticized for effectively advocating another 4 years of Obama. This has the sound of someone who likes a vanity candidate like Trump and is angry about getting pushback from others.
4) This will be most the most vicious, corrupt election ever, marred by violence in many cases, and lies so outlandish coming from the MSM it will seem unbelievable that anybody could fall for it, yet they will. Voter fraud will be extremely high, and much of Obama's campaign money will come from overseas as he will again turn off the AVS check on his donation system so that the money "literally cannot be tracked" just as was done in 2010.
At little over the top, but yeah, this is going to get nasty - which is why we need every conservative, Republican, Tea Party activist, etc, working as a team to get rid of Hussein.
5) Many Freepers will fall on their swords, come unglued, and be beside themselves on the events that are about to unfold, it will be too much for them to handle. Moderators will have their hands full.
The nominating process is always ugly. It will naturally be even uglier if we end up with a bunch of people advocating 3rd party if they don't get their way. These will be people who can't even remember as far back as Perot to see what a disaster 3rd party presidential bids are.
That is all, end communication, see you after the 2012 elections folks. I'm in a good spot, don't plan to argue or worry over the election at all, it is what it is. I'd share my thoughts on who will end up winning but no need to bring everyone down. I'm going to go enjoy my summer, family, and drop out until after the election. I'll vote, you can bet out that.
Bet you won't drop out. You'll be back. Sounds like you may just be frustrated at the moment.
I'd rather live out the rest of my life someplace beautiful but relatively backward than witness up close and personal the dismantling of the greatest experiment in freedom in human history.
It's bad enough that our federal government has been taken over by misguided radicals who hate everything that made the U.S. exceptional...what really hurts is how many people are cheering them on.
We see the same “PDS” name calling and if you don't support Palin, your are a low life “Hater”, etc, the name calling and the personal insults are again, running unchecked, and if you worship Palin, you get a free pass. If you support a different candidate than Palin, or don't agree that she is nothing short of Mother Theresa, Joan of Arc or the Virgin Mary, you are watched closely and frequently harassed by her disciples.
I agree, I am also getting seriously burned out at all the name calling and uncivil tone that has begun to dominate here. I am also taking a back seat like I did in 2008. It just is not worth the time to keep defending one’s dignity from so many unreasonable attacks.
Your post reads like you want to bug out while things are tough and then when things settle out, come back and enjoy the fruits of others carrying on the fight.
Why should those others want you back?
What’s that old saying??
“When the going gets tough, the tough get .......
to take the summer off?
to Go to the beach?
to run away?
to Have a cow?
to give up?
Nervous?
Sad?
I can’t remember how to finish it. Any other ideas?
Of course you’re right, it’s inevitable. I remember how tense it gotten during the Clintoon reelection; now I look back on those times and laugh (almost). I’ll do my best to stick around in spite of it; there’s nowhere else to get as much honest info as here. But I worry I’ll be needing a prescription for something by fall.
Blessed Easter, Happy Summer, see you post-election.
That is all, end communication, see you after the 2012 elections folks..

Bull. Are you saying that Free Republic is only about the 2012 elections? Are there no other threads to be enjoyed other than 2012 election threads?
If you’re opussing out based on heated election threads, then WTH kind of FReeper were/are you?
Get back in the game, son. Ignore the political threads if you want. Treat then like the Religion Foums. ~ugh!~
But to quit FReeping based on this? Stoopid.
Good for you, Scythian! Good vanity. Looking forward to seeing you on FR after the election. Thanks for your posts, commentary. Take care.
You forgot about the current big problem around here: Stepping on the “third rail of Free Republic”: Commenting negatively on a Sarah Palin Thread.
If you ever want to feel like someone accused of witchcraft back in Salem, suggest that Sarah might be a bad candidate.
I feel your pain.
Enjoy your time off.
I will remain here, kicking over anthills just to watch the ants run around. Its actually a fun thing to do, when you cannot lay your hands on a magnifying glass.
I agree with you on the outcome..but I hate thinking it. I don’t blame you a bit.
Enjoy life and have a good summer.
Wait a minute, what if something big happens?
Once upon a time in America, not automatically caving in to the opinion of the 2/3 majority at the Town Hall was called "speaking your mind".
Now, some people believe that not automatically caving in to what the 2/3 majority at the Town Hall thinks is "being a hired gun and a disrupter". Everybody, in their opinion, should think exactly alike and their fragile nerves just cannot take the shock of anybody upsetting The Natural Order of Things.
Many Freepers will fall on their swords, come unglued, and be beside themselves on the events that are about to unfold, it will be too much for them to handle. Moderators will have their hands full. .... I'm in a good spot, don't plan to argue or worry over the election at all, it is what it is.
Well, I'm taking the opposite tack. I will do everything I can to try to ensure that Barack Hussein Obama will NOT be reelected President of the United States of America.
If that means arguing against a candidate that 2/3 of the Town Hall absolutely adores but 3/4 of America cannot stand and will therefore guarantee Barack Hussein Obama an easy reelection victory, I will argue against such a candidate, despite opposition from 2/3 of the Town Hall. My nerves will stand up just fine.
