Is Sarah Palin Getting Trumped?
Pajamas Media ^ | 04/20/2011 | Myra Adams

According to the latest polls, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin’s political popularity trajectory is heading south. It was inevitable given our 24/7 fame-obsessed culture which feeds on new personalities and controversy to fuel the celebrity media machine.

Once Sarah Palin resigned from her office as Alaska governor, she left that respected “higher platform” reserved for our elected leaders and crossed over into celebrity jungle.

There, she willingly subjected herself to the unforgiving forces of media pop culture, where the masses are easily bored. And now, without a new hit show, movie, book, clothing line, charity cause, or fragrance, Palin is vying for the same celebrity space as Lady Gaga and Charlie Sheen. And worse for her, according to the Washington Post, Palin “rarely seems to break through into the national dialogue.”

Since her successful 2009 launch into the media pop culture, Palin’s “brand” has remained essentially the same and her fan base has not widened. Now after two years in the celebrity maelstrom, as her star is starting to flicker, she must do what all celebrities need do to stay on top: re-invent herself. Otherwise, Sarah Palin appears destined for a twirl on Dancing with the Stars during the 2013 season.

There is no doubt that in these past two years former Palin has had a good run. Consider her list of accomplishments: Fox News contributor, best-selling author, a reality TV show, success as a political fundraiser, champion of conservative causes, Tea Party leader, a bold critic of President Obama, a master of social media, and a “kingmaker” in the 2010 midterm elections — while the question of will she or won’t she run for president swirled around her like an Iowa tornado.

But the question remains: is Sarah Palin’s expiration date about up?

The RNC seems to be pretty obscure these days. I don't think they even gave us McNuts in ‘08. My belief is that it was the average nonpolitical ignorant public who went for a name they recognized. The Conservatives in the race were so scattered and unknown, that all they managed to do was thin out the base to the point where the moderates chose our candidate.

There is no way Romney will pull it off this time. Huckabee will probably wind up taking it based on the ignorance of the average voter.

Hey, don't forget to tell everyone on this thread that you're an Alaska oil man who's ticked off at Sarah because she yanked your trough away.

That disclosure thing, don't you know?

"Just for the record, I happen to be one of those “Blood Sucking Takers who helped pioneer the Prudhoe Bay Oilfield for Atlantic Richfield and Sohio...Palin’s ignorant, punitive and Populist attack on that established effort, nearly put a halt to everything good we worked so hard to create. "

Trump is making a lot of noise (some call it news) but at sometime people will get tired of his ranting and raving because he isn’t doing anything but “ranting, raving, making claims he isn’t backing up with facts” and people will eventually tune him out and see him for the blow-heart he is.

Sarah is making good down to earth speeches and trying to motivate people, and supporting those that are standing up and letting their voices be heard. Not so with “The Donald” - all he talks about is himself.

If she continues to give speeches like that of last Sat. in Wisconsin no Republican will come anywhere near her, and then she can proceed on to, figuritively, drive her heel into Obama's throat. That is, if she decides to run.

Aside: Loved what she stated last night to Hannity, i.e., that no candidate, or public persona, need feel they have to grant their attendance in front of a hostile media. I believe she said something like, 'nobody has to give them, (liberal press), the time of day', and that one needn't be tentative in defending themselves and their positions on the issues.

Say what you will about her, critique her; throw a fit when she speaks boldly, and loudly.
But no one can deny that with Sarah Palin there is absolutely no pretense. She's as comfortable being around (so-called) ordinary people as she would be heads of state.

I think of Mrs Palin when I recall the incident of Reagan in the 1976 primary, when he met that group of blind children in North Carolina. They went out of their way to fool the press and keep them away. Can you imagine Obama; Clinton, or Romney; Gingrich, purposely leading the press away from an event such as this?

Oh, I think Trump is backing up what he says with facts quite well. He is also very pragmatic in how he comes across on these issues, which is why he is making such a major impact on the race.

It's You are not very much in tune with what you claim. Prove me wrong and show some link that backs your claims.

I agree, it is not a very clever campaign strategy to insult and isolate so many groups of voters, particularly the GOP establishment and the Moderates or Independents.

It plays well with the fringe base and the Tea Party hard cores, but to win elections by pushing away support and being rude in the process is not very smart.

“Fight Like a Girl!”, “Game On” and that other “Get used to it!” phrase do not exactly inspire a broad appeal to the average apolitical voter. If anything, it repels them.

Palin can run her campaign as she sees fit, but up to now it hasn't exactly been working very well for her.

Here we go...the Pajama Media Palin Bashing event is underway.

The msm has a new tactice...bash Trump, and they try and tie Palin to him.

Why not? They've tried everything else.

Anyone who actually believes Trump cares about Obama’s BC is somewhat dim.

Would mind to explain that more in detail to a lot of FRiends. Especially the word dim???

From Rush Limbaugh's Facebook, 4/20/11:

I think there are people giving Trump a skewed perception of mainstream conservatism. I think he believes that it's the kooks, the fringe -- and that's not, of course, the case. The mainstream conservative base is not concerned with where Obama's birth certificate is. We're concerned with his economics destroying the economy.

So you really think catchy phrases don't work?

Yeah, "hope and change" just repelled so many people...........
