What is it about pizza that makes us love it so much? Is it the savory cheeses, the pliable crust or the aromatic sauce? Perhaps it's the customizable nature of the treat. Each pizza is different; across the country -- the world, even -- foodies get to compliment their pies with the toppings they most love. You can call it an Italian creation, an American staple or even a Brazilian standby, but one thing's for sure: we all crave pizza. But where should you expect to taste the best slice?

-Chi-town FReepers will probably want to thump me, but deep-dish really isn't my thing. I like it once in a great while, but I'd much rather have a "flat" pie from one of Chicago's Home Run Inn's or maybe a Reggio's (only had those frozen, though).
-Okonomiyaki looks very tasty, but calling it pizza seems a stretch. If they wanted something slightly exotic and non-traditional for the story, they might have gone with a Lebanese meat pie called...something I can't remember right now. :(
-It's not a style everyone cares for, but there should have been at least a mention of St. Louis style pizza. I know people who swear by the "sticky cheese" and will settle for nothing less!

I remember Hungry Howie’s from when we lived in Naples! Good stuff! Gotta second the poater who mentioned St. Louis style pizza, too. We didn’t realize how much we’d miss really good pizza until we moved to FL. Some good, but not really good down there. So, we moved back home and got to go back to Monical’s. Nothing more than college-town pizza but it is our favorite by far. Thin, crispy crust, great sauce too.

Our local pizza joint(when they're on)makes a great pie.
I enjoyed Godfather’s pizza. Sadly, the franchise does not exist in NM or Az anymore.
Star PIzza in Houston, TX is the absolute best pizza.
“Chi-town”
The best pizza in the Milky Way Galaxy is Palermo’s on 95th Street in Oak Lawn - ask Channel 11, they rated it as such. Thin crust, but you can request/get thick. Great sit down restaurant by the way, sort of upscale.

That said, almost any pizzeria in Rome, Italy was about the “best in the world.” Thin, and tastes like it’s charcoal grilled. They are floppy so you fold them in half and eat them like a sandwich, and wash them down with beer.
Gino’s East, hands down. Hats off to the Lou Minatti’s. crowd. Aegean’s Pizza in South Shore Mall on Long Island makes a hell of a pie, too.

I remember homemade pizza my father made, cornmeal was the secret, IIRC. It was terrific.
Random New York style pizza. Works for me.
