Instead of spending another day immersed in Middle Eastern names, culture, religion, death and destruction, the world was treated to western culture, etiquette and a Christian gathering in the House of the Lord, to celebrate the marriage of a man and a woman who love one another.
It was a beautiful ceremony, in a beautiful setting.

It was uplifting. It was a happy, joyous day.
I wish the newlyweds a loving and productive life.
Queen Elizabeth can take a bow now that the British royal family will be in good hands after she's gone.

not a fan of ‘The Royals’...
...HOWEVER...
...the wife had it on and I was pleasantly surprised to hear the name of Christ spoken reverently and often during the ceremony.
What’s up with the trees INSIDE a church?
It was like a billboard saying to a world so occupied with religions bent on killing Christians, that we are alive and well, thank you very much.
Well said. Your sentiments resonate even to those of us who have no particular interest in the event.
they’re being planted outside after the wedding
Except for all the cops stationed along the entire parade route holding those high-powered weapons. I do not recall them being present at Lady Di’s wedding.
The trees were pretty — floral.
Yes, I was happy to see Christ honored there! If there were any Muslims, I didn’t see any. Just happy to see our culture was in vogue for the day!
agreed, my wife and kids wanted to watch it and I was actually enjoying it.
It made me proud and that is how it should be.
My wife missed the end so we’ll be sitting down later and seeing it and I ma looking forward to it.
It was nice to see a western country being proud and I bet the loon left were all pissed off.
saw a Saudi near the back LOL.
it is high time that we as the west took our traditions and culture, laws etc and stand by them, to be proud of them and don’t let these lunatics who hate us muslims or liberals stop us form doing so
I agree....it was beautiful! I’m Catholic and was surprised at how much the service paralleled a Catholic wedding, including mentioning Catherine of Siena and other early saints.
Kate seems to be the antithesis of Diana....very composed, calm, and rational. I doubt we’ll be hearing of any scandals associated with them in the future. Of course, she’s 29, so hopefully she knows who she is by now.
And isn’t her sister absolutely gorgeous?
Mrs. Prince of Space
You are absolutely correct. British Culture is our culture. Christianity, enlightenment, the English language, common law, habeus corpus, the scientific method, representative democracy - the British either founded all of these, or developed ancient concepts into today’s usable forms. The British Monarchy can not be separated from the nation.
Congratulations to the Brits. This spectacular event was a refreshing and uplifting contrast to the daily assult against our western sensibilities, beliefs, and customs.
It showed the savages we revere women too.
I was thinking the same thing, (though I can’t put it as eloquently as you did.) I was also looking at the beautiful old cathedral and thinking that not every culture could, or would, build such a fine and beautiful structure.
It was lovely. Perfect in every aspect. A picture of culture, decency and class and tradition. I loved the boys’ choir, the special prayer they asked for during the ceremony and the Hymn, “Jerusalem”. I wish them much happiness in their lives together.
So that’s why they won’t allow Prince William to fight in the Middle East?
It was a magnificent service and it was wonderful to see the sacrament of marriage reverently elevated to it’s proper place. It was a refreshing display of grace, class and dignity that this world sorely needed.
It was a very Christian service which affirmed the symbolism of Christ’s love of the church and that marriage is a sacrament, a divine gift of grace from God, not a right!
Totally agree. A dignified and uplifting series of events. We, as a part of Western civilization and with our roots in the all that is great in Great Britain, should be vicariously proud.
I notice they didn’t invite any A******S, like Bork Hussein Obunga...
Hmmm...after 8 years of practice, they have walked down the aisle. Hard to get much more Christian than marrying after shacking up!
William and Kate have set the standard for all their Descendants to the throne.
As the offspring of a proud British Woman, I am proud today for the UK, they have many problems that need to be solved (as does America) but that does not me it is not worth saving
God save the Queen
and I was so glad not to see ANY demonstrations of the unwelcome alien cult : islam
Jolly good show U.K. !
It is disappointing that so many young couples choose to live together before marriage, but we can hope that todays reverent celebration of the sacrament of marriage will inspire couples to marry instead of becoming babymommas and babydaddies which is so prevalent these days.
There will always be an England. Never underestimate them! That Hitler fellow underestimated the will of the British people. Killed himself in the end you know.
So, that explains why some high ranking "americans" were not invited.

Trust me. These stills look 100% better than the movie on TV. Everybody I know thought they looked like Cinderella's two evil step sisters in those bizarre hats. And too much eye makeup.

'Tis a shame too, because they looked lovely at Easter Matins.
It was also refreshing to see NOBAMA....
It was also refreshing to see NOBAMA....
Think of how much the shop keepers and hat makers and so many others benefited!
OK... Eugenie and Beatrix? Nice stems, but too much makeup. That beige hat is obnoxious.
There were plenty of police, security, snipers, etc. at Charles & Diana’s wedding. I remember photos of them on the building roofs around St. Paul’s.
But, I grant you, not as many as today, I’m sure.
Dude, did you know about this celebration for you?
> So, that explains why some high ranking “americans” were not invited.
Because they aren’t Americans, neither are they adherents to Western Civilization.
It's easy to forget now, but for a time, Britain alone defended the West, and God Bless them for it.
It would be really embarrassing if Beatrix now discovers that she had the hat on backwards.
You left out “nor Christian”
:)
Manc,
LOL Old sharp eyes! I agree with you about our traditions and culture!
You are British. What were your thoughts and feelings about the royals, Kate and Will? Really, I think they are a little better than Diana and Charles (ok, I think more so than Diana and Charles.)
Yeesh...Of course kate was ‘calmer’ than Diana...she was 10 years older and had shacked up with William for 8 years!
THAT is the difference.
this whole charade reminds me of the Ted Kennedy funeral...Catholic church even though he was soooo pro abortion ..conservatives got upset about that charade, but not this one.
Its one thing to shack up ( or as in William’s case to screw around as well)before you get married and flaunt that publically as “Hey, no problem, its the new generation, free love, free sex”, then decide to have this huge wedding religious charade...
Yeah, Catherine of Sienna and the other Saints must be real proud...
I’m not a monarchy fan, but I say “Amen.” It’s important to remember our Western heritage, and this was a good reminder of what we stand to lose if we don’t guard it.
And the 8 years of shacking up in public?
Sacrament of Marriage reverently elevated? Oh, yeah, shack up, screw around and then have a splashy wedding in a church...uh, we will just ignore the previous years.
I am not impressed with all the ‘sanctity”...I am impressed with the hypocrisy!
I refuse to go to a marriage between a couple that has been living together. Of course, I wasn’t invited to this one...
Why don’t you both just go stone them and be done with it?
Sheesh.
“The dress is made from hand-cut English lace, French Chantilly lace, and ivory and white satin gazar. So carefully crafted was this dress, rumors are that the lace workers washed their hands every 30 minutes and replaced their needles every three hours to ensure that the lace remained pure white.”
The lace may have been pure, but what was inside wasn’t!
After 8 years of shacking up, what is the point of a big wedding? Who is being fooled? And the thrill of the wedding night? After 8 years, he’ll be lucky if she doesn’t have a headache tonight...
BTW - I wouldn’t mind it so much if it wasn’t a church wedding.
The sins of those joined in Holy Matrimony cannot detract from the beauty of the sacrament. It is truly a gift from God. I will pray that this couple grow in love with one another and with God, with whom, through marriage have joined in a trinity. Also, I forgive them as I pray that I have been forgiven.
The real charade wasn't the marriage of Kate and William but the piety and spectacle of the mass hysterical morning following Princess Diana's untimely death. If you have nothing nice to say about their marriage go start your own thread about sin. I imagine more than a few FReepers will come to your thread to say our God is a forgiving and loving God.
