Western culture celebrated today at the royal wedding
April 30, 2011 | Vanity

Posted on 04/29/2011 1:53:23 PM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Instead of spending another day immersed in Middle Eastern names, culture, religion, death and destruction, the world was treated to western culture, etiquette and a Christian gathering in the House of the Lord, to celebrate the marriage of a man and a woman who love one another.

It was a beautiful ceremony, in a beautiful setting.

It was uplifting. It was a happy, joyous day.

I wish the newlyweds a loving and productive life.

Queen Elizabeth can take a bow now that the British royal family will be in good hands after she's gone.

I honestly do understand as to what you’re saying but if my kids go by your view or mine I would ave no problem but like I said each to their own.

> You left out “nor Christian”

Indeed!!

Thank you for the correction. Of all, this one is *MOST* important, as the others are meaningless without it.

Thank you for taking the time to respond with such a reasoned, articulate and scriptural response to this situation.

You presented the concerns I also had in a much more calm and patient manner than I have done. I guess I get upset , not because people are imperfect ( whoa...me included,ha.), but because we give out a message that seems contradictory to what we talk about committment.

There’s a difference between attacking someone and pointing out some errors in his theology or philosophy.

In case you missed it, let me revisit an important point in my post. For many years the British people have been ground down by socialism, Marxism, multiculturalism. They are struggling financially, and they are being destroyed by out-of-control Muslims and a white and black underclass that dwarfs ours. Their kids aren’t taught British history and conditions are so bad that 250000 Britons emigrate every year. Too many of them have lost religious faith; going to church is no longer cool.

So a ceremony like this one is absolutely invaluable. It brings the British people together in joy and national solidarity. It makes them realize that they have a noble heritage of history, art, architecture, music, language, law, and almost every other human pursuit. It reminds them that they a great deal to be proud of, and stiffens their collective spine so that they might be able to stand up to aggressors just a little bit better.

Whether the royal couple deserve it, the fact that they were on their knees in Westminster Abbey in front of two billion people is an important signal to Britain and to the world. That’s not hypocrisy, and it’s not self-glorification; it’s a crucial duty of the British monarchy in restoring their nation’s former strength.

Re the photo caption thread: I guess telling women they need horse dentistry IS in line with your brand of Christianity?

Hypocrisy, thy name is Mr. Rogers?

I have no sexual obsession about Kate Middleton.

Baloney. It's her lack of virginity that galls you.

I did feel attacked...personally with such comments as “God don’t like ugly, and your spitefulness is ugly indeed.”

However, Thank you for taking the time now and making the effort to respond to me with your articulate and very well presented post here.

You have made excellant points, and I agree with you on many of your points. I have reflected on what you present, and see your perspective. You have presented another way for me to view this drama today. thank you.

I didn't say women needed a horse dentist. I said the entire royal family could benefit from his services.

"Baloney. It's her lack of virginity that galls you. "

No, I dislike her hypocrisy, along with the hypocrisy of the prince, and the entire royal family and the Anglican church. If someone is interested in living with unrepentant sin, and boasting of their sin, then they shouldn't be married in a Christian church. For the record, I also oppose homosexuals getting married in the church.

Repent. A good word, necessary to Christianity.

While I'm not here to defend the Episcopal Church I assume you are unfamiliar with Rite 1 used during the period of Lent:

Almighty God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
maker of all things, judge of all men:, We acknowledge and bewail our manifold sins, and wickedness,
which we from time to time most grievously have committed, by thought, word, and deed, against thy divine Majesty, provoking most justly thy wrath and indignation against us.
We do earnestly repent, and are heartily sorry for these our misdoings;
the remembrance of them is grievous unto us, the burden of them is intolerable.
Have mercy upon us, have mercy upon us, most merciful Father;
for thy Son our Lord Jesus Christ's sake, forgive us all that is past;
and grant that we may ever hereafter serve and please thee in newness of life,
to the honor and glory of thy Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Assuming they went to church during Lent which I believe they did I think there may have been some repenting going on.

You might also ponder on John 8:7

“You might also ponder on John 8:7”

How about pondering it in context...

“7And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8And once more he bent down and wrote on the ground. 9But when they heard it, they went away one by one, beginning with the older ones, and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him. 10Jesus stood up and said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” 11She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more.”

Not, “Go and sin at will, for who can condemn you?” The couple very publicly shacked up for 8 years, and have not indicated in any way that they have repented of doing so. Western civilization was not built on shacking up. Suppose Kate got fat 4 years ago, or came down with a serious disease - do you think she would still be getting married today?

Not obsessed with Kate’s virginity? You’ve yet once to mention the fact that William, too, was “shacking up.”

Give it a rest. They, like we all, are imperfect. Today they improved themselves. Let’s pray they will succeed at the wonderful, complex, beautiful, tumultous joy that is marriage.

I see, I was unaware that you had been taken into God's confidence in this matter.

I have previously defended the conservative viewpoint from Leftists/Statists etc etc from charges of Sanctimony

On both these counts I stand corrected.

I’m not going to get on the sanctimonious soapbox others have ascended today, but statistically, especially for younger couples, divorce rates are higher for couples who have lived together before marriage than for those who haven’t.

Apparently, the parties are often play-acting while co-habitating outside of marriage. Then, once the union is legalized, they become ‘themselves.’ That rather upsets the ‘knowing who s/he is’ before tying the knot theory.

Did you miss post 90:

“No, I dislike her hypocrisy, along with the hypocrisy of the prince, and the entire royal family and the Anglican church.”

Post 78:

“When someone wants to enter what is supposedly a Christian church and receive the church’s approval for their wedding, then it is appropriate to tell them that shacking up - fornication - is wrong, and that they need to repent.”

Post 45:

“I refuse to go to a marriage between a couple that has been living together”

maybe my wife and I must be different after all these years because we understood each other after living together and we knew if we we could make it by understanding how we live.

Mr. Rogers..this is a very improper question, BUT I'll ask it any way...

did you have a sexual relationship with your wife before marriage??

I feel certain in today's generation that William and Kate most likely did enjoy a sexual relationship, they enjoyed holidays together and they spent time together while in college..that's just the way of life today and it was back in the 60’s I believe Prince Charles and the Ms. tampon had a sexual relationship while she was married to another man and the Ms.tampon made life unhappy for Lady Diana. BUT there they were together today and accepted..

and Jesus forgives every one who sins...just ask him for his forgiveness and Believe..
