Kate puts on brave face amid tacky spectacle
New York Post ^ | April 30, 2011 | Andrea Peyser

Off with their hats! It was bigger than the Super Bowl and as tacky as a legion of Elvis impersonators. Most of all, it was disturbingly white. Yesterday's little wedding of William and Kate, a worldwide showcase of dreadful hats, fad diets and an unusually sour, lemon-yellow-clad queen, was designed to prove to the common man that the royals, finally, were down with the people. But from the moment a triumphant Kate tiptoed with her dad onto the red carpet -- yes, she walked an actual red carpet to and from the altar -- I saw not a potential queen. Kate bore the look of a lithe human sacrifice. Or was she ready to faint from her starvation diet? Her mouth smiled. But in her eyes -- terror. Who can blame her? Kate waited eight years for this moment, outlasting an endless parade of bimbos and stunning babes, most of them blond, at least five of them wedding guests (go figure, Brits), to win the hand of the badly balding heir to the throne. "You look beautiful!" William said, sounding a trifle too surprised, as she sailed into his orbit. These had to be the second-most dorky words ever to emerge from the mouth of a prince, after Wills' dad's unfortunate musings on becoming Camilla's feminine hygiene product. Kate did her best to paint on a smile, as the claustrophobically reserved royal mob made asses of themselves, craning their necks to give Kate the once-over, like a hunk of meat. It was showtime! Perhaps it was a bad omen. Or a sign of water retention. But when it came time to be Mr. and Mrs. Or Duke and Duchess. Or whatever the heck this pair will call each other in the

Had they have been there, it would have been about them:

The announcers said it costs the equivelent of $1 or one pound, sorry can’t recall, for each British citizen, to support the Royal family per year. I guess if they don’t want to pay they will do something on their own without Americans butting in.

I didn’t realize that it was customary for all females to wear hats to the royal wedding.

I dont think even Michelle Obama could top that monstrosity worn by the Princess.

Thanks for the link.
Oh, don’t underestimate the First Shrew.
Knowing her taste in fashions, she could probably have come up with a fright.

The queen is my age (always has been - in fact we looked so much alike I thought I was royalty). But I digress. I think I would have fallen asleep after that long ceremony.

I am neither blaming, nor excusing Charles for his behavior;just stating the facts. And yes, he should have been allowed to marry Camilla, to begin with, because, as you say, he hasn't ever been a happy person until he finally got to marry her.

An "adulteress" is a female person engaged in an affair while married/a female, engaged in an affair with a married man; you used the wrong word.

Charles never loved Diana and it showed from the very beginning, when they were just "dating".

Sometimes arranged marriages work, lots of times, when it's royalty, it doesn't and in spades.

...”Andrea Peyser is nuts. Must have been drunk or stoned when she wrote this article”...

Yes. This was a truly mean piece of work. Ms Peyser’s envy was spewing everywhere. Every warm blooded woman loves a wedding and this one was historic and beautiful. May William and Kate live long and happy lives.

The Queen wore what the Brits call "primrose" and it's a one of her favorite colors.

Because the bride's mother gets first dibs on what color she is going to wear, which in this instance was pale blue, Queen Elizabeth II had to pick a different color. She usually wears blue to weddings.

Prince William is now also the Duke of Cambridge and two other new titles.

Well - it made me LOL! Clever. I think that outfit looks great on her though with the color of her skin and hair. Get rid of the hat and the eyeshadow and she would look real nice.
