A visit to a therapist might be necessary to help conservatives work through their issues with the current frontrunner.
What if Mitt Romney wins the Republican nomination for president in 2012?
A vast majority of conservatives become anxiety-ridden at the mere posing of this question, and many go ballistic at the thought of it actually happening.
So a quick visit to a therapist may be helpful.
Imagine yourself lying on a couch in the spring of 2012 with soothing music playing in the background. News breaks that former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney has clinched the Republican nomination for president.
Your therapist, knowing that as a true conservative you worked against Romney by supporting (fill in the blank), asks in a soft comforting voice, How does this news make you feel angry, betrayed, confused?
Intrade also pegs Obamas re-election prospects at 58.6%, but your therapist says she will address those negative feelings in a future session.
This hour she wants you to work through the stress associated with accepting Romney as the GOP nominee.
So in an empathetic tone she asks you to think about the following questions:
Are you going to pick up your signs for Candidate X and go home?
Could you work for and support Romneys campaign?
Will you vote for Romney in the 2012 election?
What if the polls show that Romney is running neck and neck with Obama?
Do you resent that squishy independent swing vote that is fueling Romney?
Finally, the therapy session is over and you leave her office with a huge headache. You realize you would have real problems supporting Romney as the nominee and even imagining these questions makes you angry.
Can you relate to this scenario?

Hold my nose and pull the lever. Obama cannot be allowed to remain in office.
I’ll vote for him, because the alternative is too unthinkable. but I’ll need to go take a shower afterwards.
We’ll continue to swirl down the toilet - just a bit slower than now.
Das is why they made the “Lugar”!
Get ready for 4(or more) years of Obama. Mitt will lose MUCH worse than RINOs Bush(41), Dole and McPain.
If Romney is the nominee, Obama is re-elected, unless Hillary runs. Then she is elected.
I would choke back my bile and vote for him while expecting the same outcome we got with McCain.
If that happens - you will see a lot of this around here....
Ditto. I will ultimately vote for whichever Republican or RINO gets the nomination against Hussein.
Except Ron Paul.
But I seriously doubt Romney has the kind of support needed to get that far.

Then I’ll vote for him. I do however plan to work like hell in the primaries to ensure that eventuality never comes to pass.
What about Huckabee?
I actually had a FReeper - last night - tell me that he will vote for Obama before he boted for the Huckster.

“Do you resent that squishy independent swing vote that is fueling Romney?”
With every fiber of my being.
I'm not paying attention to the potential GOP nominee until after Labor Day.
Besides, I'm pretty comfortable with Mr. Cain. :^)
If he gets the nomination I’ll probably vote for him and then come what may I’ll be concerned only for the welfare of my family. If the best we can do in this country is re-elect the commie bastard obama (which will happen if he runs against ford-dole-mccain-romney) then it can damn well deal with consequences without me. I’ll move to Texas and hope for seccession.
socialist is as socialist does....McRomney would do more damage under the guise of “conservative” than fubo could or would...I will not compromise any longer...I will write in daffy duck
