Skip to comments. My toilet paper makes me sad (Georgia-Pacific, Koch brothers)
Posted on 05/11/2011 2:51:26 PM PDT by Mountain Bike Vomit Carnage
Today I was in Costco. As I entered the papergoods area a demonstration woman approached me about a sale on Northern triple ply quilted bathroom tissue.
It's my brand and I strongly support a soft 3 ply, but that's not my point.
The demonstration woman went on to show me on the packaging that Georgia Pacific donates money to the Susan G Komen foundation.
I stopped in my tracks and said " I wish you hadn't told me that. The Susan G Komen Foundation funds Planned Parenthood and Planned Parenthood ( or Planned Barrenhood) is the largest provider of abortions in the United States. I can no longer use my favorite brand of tissue or purchase anything else from Georgia Pacific because I will not allow my money to fund abortion."
She looked at me in disbelief.
Normally I am not outspoken, but I get such a punch in my gut when I am confronted by backdoor funding of something as hideous as a the murder of an inconvenient child that my mouth tends to run away from my brain.
Maybe I gave her something to think about or more likely she thinks that I am a nutcase.
I just wanted you to be informed so you can make the decision on your own if you want to support Planned Parenthood abortions by purchasing Georgia Pacific product.
Who uses toilet paper?
That’s what newspaper is for!
I don’t understand why any corporation would contribute to anything that even approaches controversial. And...why isn’t that corporation contributing excess monies back to their stockholders?
That abortion outfit is only contributing to a lack of future paper consumers.
Now we have to use politically correct toilet paper? God save America.
Good on ya’, mate.
I never heard this, do you have a source?
Maybe you should change that! ;-)
Read it and weep...
I call for a return to the old Sears catalog.
Seriously, I’m proud of you!!
I have to keep questioning why an organization which is purportedly against breast cancer supports a group whose policy of abortion might be a significant factor in breast cancer...so much for rationality and logic...
And before I'm bombarded with, “Oh yea, well so and so doesn't” - yes, there are still a few decent companies around. But if you think of the hundreds of products the average American buys every year, it is virtually impossible not to spend money with stinkers.
Thanks I will remember and pass this information along!
This is the foundation of liberalism - rock-solid denial of the very existence of any other way of thinking.
A liberals position on anything doesn't matter to them at all, and they laugh at anyone who actually cares about anything personally.
The only thing that matters to a liberal is group loyalty.
Positions come, positions go, but group loyalty is, literally, reality to them.
So when you rejected Georgia Pacific on abortion grounds to the liberal woman, she didn't look at you in disbelief because she disagreed with you.
She looked at you in disbelief because, in a matter of seconds...
...you ceased to exist to her.
> Thats what newspaper is for!
No, the ink rubs off.
Use the Koran instead. The ink is usually pretty stable.
Of course, you could always use leaves from the trees, like our ancestors did.
Or you could do the muzzie thing and use your left hand.
Most of these corporations fund all kind of stupid crap. Chances are few of their shareholders would approve of 99% of it. Wonder what kind of contributions GP makes to religious establishments?
I thought it was the other way around ...
I don’t think Komen supports Planned Parenthood, I think Planned Parenthood supports Komen.
But, I’ve been wrong before.
Or corncobs. But that's a rough ride...
Yes, the Susan G Komen Foundation does fund Planned Parenthood.
I use an old dirty brick.
Cancel the check.
I believe a number of similarly purposed organizations use pink ribbons or other pink emblems, and not all are in the abortion game. Komen is a known baddie, but other pink ribbon organizations may not be.
Why the heck would a breast cancer benefit organization want to get mixed up with Planned Parent/Barrenhood anyhow? Do they hope to catch breast cancer in utero and abort the potential sufferers?
Lol! Thanks for the tips!
I especially like the Koran one. :)
But, but, I heard recently that Sear’s was selling XXX DVDs...don’t know if its true, but you might want to check it out!
Included in those links is the SGK website where they say they are “assured” by SGK that the funds they provide for breast cancer are NOT used for abortions...
Sure...like I believe anything PP has to say...
Thank you for that insight and also reacting from your heart on such an important issue. GP needs to hear from the public on this.
I have not eaten in a McDonalds in over two years since I found out that corporately they support gay marriage and gay rights and have donated money to that cause. I would rather than go hungry than ever step foot in another McDonalds.
People stare at me like I am from Mars when I tell them that is why I will not patronize that restaurant. Apparently eating greasy fast food transcends their principles, but certainly not mine.
> I especially like the Koran one. :)
Yes, that’s definitely my fave.
I remember some time back when you could buy toilet paper with the Ayatollah Khomeini’s face on it. They called it “Ayatoilet Paper”.
Oh, you can acknowledge that people think differently than you, and still disagree with it.
The eager little salesbeaver probably hadn’t even been told about the PP connection with the “wonderful” Susan M. Komen breast cancer research foundation. That’s what Occam’s Razor suggests.
Hmmmm. What's the downside?
I can remember as a kid, perusing the women in the ladies underwear section quite a bit! LOL!!!
It would be briefer now to make a list of companies that DON’T support the gay crush. There’s probably not a chain eatery in town that would be on such a list. McDonald’s is hardly unique.
Some undercover research might be in order.
sorry to hear of your experience.. we usually buy the generic brand.
it could be worse, just think of all the corn cobs going to waste with the rush to use corn to make more ethanol.
Komen: Planned Parenthood Doesnt Do Mammograms With Grants
In new emails Susan G. Komen for the Cure is sending to people complaining about their grants to the Planned Parenthood abortion business, officials claim the grants are given to help women obtain breast cancer screenings. Yet, Komen also admits Planned Parenthood doesnt do mammograms.
Last year, Komen spokesman John Hammarley confirmed 20 of Komens 122 affiliates have made donations to Planned Parenthood and, in 2009, those contributions totaled $731,303. He also confirmed Komen affiliates contributed about $3.3 million to the abortion business from 2004-2009.
In a new form letter to one pro-life person who complained about the grants, obtained by LifeNews.com, Komen explains the donations, but says 19 affiliates have donated.
Thanks very much for writing to share your concern with us. Recent questions have arisen regarding a limited number of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® community grants to Planned Parenthood breast health programs, specifically those designed to provide screening mammograms for vulnerable populations, e.g., low-income and uninsured women, Komen says. Currently, 19 Komen for the Cure Affiliates award 19 local grants specifically to Planned Parenthood-sponsored programs in their communities to pay for breast cancer education and breast screenings.
However, a late March expose from Live Action revealed no Planned Parenthood centers nationally provide mammograms.
Live Action released videotaped footage of calls to 30 Planned Parenthood centers nationwide in 27 different states where abortion facility staff were asked whether or not mammograms could be performed on site. Every one of the Planned Parenthood centers admitted they could not do mammograms. Every Planned Parenthood, without exception, tells the women calling that they will have to go elsewhere for a mammogram, and many clinics admit that no Planned Parenthood clinics provide this breast cancer screening procedure.
We dont provide those services whatsoever, admits a staffer at Planned Parenthood of Arizona while a staffer at Planned Parenthoods Comprehensive Health Center clinic in Overland Park, Kansas tells a caller, We actually dont have a, um, mammogram machine, at our clinics.
In its email to people concerned about the Komen-Planned Parenthood connection, a Komen official admits Planned Parenthood doesnt provide mammograms for women with its grant money. Komen makes it clear the money is merely funneled through the abortion business to legitimate medical centers that actually perform mammograms.
When a mammogram is indicated, a patient is often referred to a local program, such as the states breast and cervical cancer program. In other cases, the Komen Affiliates grant to Planned Parenthood may include funds to pay for mammograms outright. When this happens, a local provider performs the mammogram, and is then reimbursed by Planned Parenthood using the Komen grant funds, Komen admits.
David Schmidt of Live Action responded to the comments in the new letter from Komen.
It appears that Komen is getting more inquiries about their affiliation with top US abortion provider Planned Parenthood, he said. Notice how Komen plays down their donations to Planned Parenthood by saying a limited number of Komen grants have gone to Planned Parenthood.
He wondered why Komen would give grants to Planned Parenthood rather than legitimate medical centers when the abortion business doesnt actually help women with mammograms.
Planned Parenthood doesnt do mammograms themselves. Why then is Komen giving grants to Planned Parenthood to then in turn pay non-Planned Parenthood health centers to provide mammograms? Why not grant funds directly to the centers performing mammograms? he asked.
Scmidt also said the grants fail to help the large percentage of women who would never go to the abortion business for legitimate health care.
Why is Komens giving to the largest abortion provider in the United States. Millions of pro-life women do not feel comfortable going to an abortion clinic to get non-abortion services, he concludes. Why not give the funds to a non-controversial community health center that all women in the community feel comfortable visiting?

Dear Xxxx ,
Thanks very much for writing to share your concern with us. Recent questions have arisen regarding a limited number of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® community grants to Planned Parenthood breast health programs, specifically those designed to provide screening mammograms for vulnerable populations, e.g., low-income and uninsured women.
Currently, 19 Komen for the Cure Affiliates award 19 local grants specifically to Planned Parenthood-sponsored programs in their communities to pay for breast cancer education and breast screenings.
When a mammogram is indicated, a patient is often referred to a local program, such as the states breast and cervical cancer program. In other cases, the Komen Affiliates grant to Planned Parenthood may include funds to pay for mammograms outright. When this happens, a local provider performs the mammogram, and is then reimbursed by Planned Parenthood using the Komen grant funds.
During the past five years, these grants have paid for the following education and screenings:
· Breast cancer and breast health education for nearly 160,000 women
· Clinical breast exams for more than 139,000 women
· 4,866 mammograms
· Detection of 177 breast cancers
Overall, Komen Affiliates provide funding for 2,000 community programs that provide screenings, education and financial and social support to women and their families. This funding is based on a thorough assessment of the breast health and support programs available in an Affiliates service area.
The limited number of Komen Affiliates that fund Planned Parenthood breast programs do so after this same thorough assessment; the funds are then reviewed twice-yearly to ensure that they are being used only for their intended breast health programs.
We know breast health education and early detection programs, particularly among vulnerable populations, are essential to reduce mortality from breast cancer. Indeed, todays five-year survival rate is 98 percent for breast cancers caught early, before theyve spread from the breast.
We hope this information helps to clear up any misinformation that you may have heard.
Thank you, again.

Ha! I love it!
I’ll put that on my Christmas wish list. :)
As long as all the “services” are provided under the same roof how could they claim the funds aren’t co-mixed?
Well, you can only do what you can do, but you can do it vocally. The truth is, it doesn’t always take millions to get companies to change. Often a vocal minority willing to put their money where their mouths are can actually get companies to stop stupid behavior.
Interesting, now Georgia Pacific (Koch brothers) is being boycotted by the left and the right. This is one of the companies that the WI union thugs are going after.
What is so sad is that connection between abortion and breast cancer that they conveniently ignore. They donate to an organization that supports and defends something that actually causes the breast cancer that they supposedly fight against.
It’s a money exchange or laundering game. If PP has a yearly mammogram budget which is larger than what it gets that year designated to mammograms, then each donation specifically to mammograms is a piece of money that PP does not have to meet out of its general donations and can and probably will send to its 99% business that eats as much money as it can get... abortions.
(Except that Planned Parenthood doesn't schedule nor do mammograms...but hey, why divert from the PR narrative?)
A toilet paper demonstration woman? They are certainly taking in-store product demos to new levels!
Good luck flushing that!
Komen is either colluding or it is getting gypped bigtime by PP. You’d think PP itself would point out where it is doing mammograms (could it be through outsourcing?)
