Name me one. I’ll name one: Genguis Khan. Now you name me one. Look it up on IMDB.

I’ll name two well known ones: Rio Bravo & The Sons of Katie Elder. Both are sitting on my shelves, but I won’t waste time on either again.

Both considered classics now - especially Rio Bravo directed by the great Howard Hawks. You should really check out some good film criticism. It’s fine that you don’t like them - but they are considered wonderful movies by audiences and film critics alike. (Doesn’t ANYONE on this thread own - at least - a Leonard Maltin guide for God’s sake?!) Katie Elder was directed by Henry Hathaway who went on to direct True Grit.

On another subject, do you wear a sweater? I’m worried your favorite western is Brokeback Mountain!

Rio Bravo sucked. The plot sucked, and John Wayne put no effort into the film. As was often the case, it was John Wayne in the film, not the actual character. And Hawks was content to have sloppy performances using a pee-poor script.

Katie Elder also sucked. John Wayne & Dean Martin once again just gave their standard characterizations.

“Doesn’t ANYONE on this thread own - at least - a Leonard Maltin guide for God’s sake?”

God has nothing to do with it, and Maltin is NOT a great film reviewer.

The Cowboys showed what Wayne COULD do, as did some other films (Angel and the Badman, She Wore a Yellow Ribbon, for examples). Too often, it was simply ‘John Wayne’ on the screen.

I think miss marmelstein believes she is John Wayne’s lover. It isn’t nice to disturb the mentally confused...

“But do you wear a sweater?”

Nope. But I’ve got more combat time than John Wayne...not that it takes much. At least, not when the bullets are real.

Well, they also serve who only stand and wait.
