D’you think?
To have Stein heading down this strained road of defender suggests something. Sounds plausible to me.
IMHO, we’re looking at a political Badger Game.
The woman is a paid operative, the political fix is in to the courts and media so he’s denied bail and splashed over every front page, and just while he happens to be getting ready to run for president of France.
He’s the head of the IMF - there’s no place for him to run in the common sense of the word. and he lives at a level of wealth and power that simply does not require this if a prostitute - or any number of them - is wanted, in full confidentiality.
You say it’s a power thing? I say you’re right - but it’s a much bigger power thing than forcing himself on one woman. It’s a power thing of self-control and careful, endless plotting and planning at his level. He’s evil, but he’s no fool, and he didn’t get where he is by making this level of mistake.
So, it’s a setup, probably by Sarkozy (note his wife Carla Bruni is now pregnant, which just-so-happens to perfectly psychologically counter this sordid mess with his opponent).
But it’s hardly one to give a damn about - as the IMF head, he’s raping the whole world to death.
Do you have any evidence of his infallibility? There are plenty of geniuses sitting behind bars that got lazy and get caught. There is more evidence with him doing this type of thing than there is of a Grand Conspiracy. Also to call out a maid at a hotel as an obvious operative is equally unfounded. Is there any evidence of that? You seem to be of the mind of Stein on this that DSK is just so smart being the head of the IMF that he is beneath raping.
I agree with you that this should be a non story. This story didn't interest me either until the crazy conspiracies floated out, started by the Socialists in Frogland. If there is one group of people I will immediately dismiss are these Eurotrash Commies.
Kind of like Hollywood rallying behind Polanski. Birds of a feather...
The maid was told the room was empty, was told to clean the room and she went in.
Not a slam against maids, but a lot of them aren't the sharpest people, especially when from a third-world country.
Consider:
Reports are he chased her and finally trapped her in a hallway. Seems we had a president that chased an unwilling female once and propositioned her (Paula Jones). . . and it is alleged he did commit a rape (Broderick).
How hard is it to believe that a self-centered french socialist with arrogance, a history of relentless womanizing and power would naturally force himself upon a third-world peon? After all, we had a president do basically the same thing (except the woman was procured by his troopers and the other a friend).
The question is, do you believe some third-world maid is quick enough to allege rape, to batter and bloody herself on the spur of the moment, concoct a story that the hotel and police would find so believable they would pursue one of the world's most powerful man to a departing jet and arrest him? To me, that is highly unlikely.
Moreover, how likely is it the police at the scene conspired with the maid to put together a frame-up in moments (ala OJ Simpson). Hardly believable, after all, why would they. They probably had no idea who the guy was and didn't care, either.
Given the above context, and that the story from the guy (didn't happen, well, it did happen) changes, and applying the Bill Clinton standard of behavior (I can do anything against the less powerful because I can, after all, whos going to believe you anyway defense), I go with the guy raping her.
Dear Mr. Stein, in answer to question 1.) See Bill Clinton.
