Elma, Wash. (AP) -- Laurel Gordon of Washington state has been putting on a tiara to promote milk products the past two years as Grays Harbor County's dairy ambassador.
The funny thing is, the 18-year-old from Elma is a lactose intolerant dairy princess.
The Daily World of Aberdeen reports that unless Gordon takes special pills, her body is unable to digest milk, so she drinks soy milk.

It’s more inclusive this way.
Even a milk allergy didn’t stop dairy ambassador

She’s milking this for all it’s worth.....
Ha ha ha....This is close to my old stomping grounds. My brother lives in Elma. It is a small rural town with quite a few small farms.
I think it was right next door in Montesano that the State of Washington harassed a very successful small business about lack of pasteurization of some of their product offerings IIRC.
It is quite odd that a person with her condition would be “the face” of the dairy industry. I’ll have to ask my brother if he knows wassup with this.
BTW, we liked to call Elma High School “Cow pie High”. LOL!
Yep, small town. We used to race stock cars on the dirt track at the fairgrounds. There was a racer who lived across the street from the fairgrounds and when there was no traffic he would just drive his beat up stock car right through the front gate. Too funny!
I love my Organic Valley milk.
That’s pretty cheesy.
She might actually be gluten intolerant with the lactose intolerance as a secondary effect of damaged cilia. The tips of the cilia are where lactase is created. That is the first thing damaged by gluten exposure. A strict gluten free diet will restore healthy cilia in about 3 weeks. There are other possible causes for lactose intolerance as well.
I worked at WPPSS #3 before it was shut down.
She’s kind of a butterface, if you ask me.
;)
I think several people got sick consuming products from that farm.
LMAO! Did you catch that she has been the “princess” for the past two years? What, all the other girls in the area are too ugly to compete so they have to stick with last year’s winner?
On the other hand, her condition just scored them millions worth of free publicity. I hope she is well compensated.
The other girls in the area are probably fat cows. ;)
You are right on the free publicity, though!
Mmmm, milk!
Please. Lactose free cow's milk is widely available. We get it and it's far better than the "special pills."
