No amount of family counseling is going to help here.
A Washington State man had to be airlifted to the hospital after his daughter shot him with a hunting bow because he took away her cell phone, authorities said.
The 15-year-old girl refused to let her father use the phone to call for help Wednesday evening, forcing him to crawl to a neighbor's house for help, KOMO-TV reported.
When officers arrived at the house in Tahuya, Wash. - about 35 miles west of Seattle - the girl fled into the woods with the bow and 35 arrows.
A SWAT team was called in to take her into custody.
Her 35-year-old father was listed in serious condition.
Dang. Just dang! An ARROW? Words fail with this one.

Sounds like Dad chose to exercise parental discipline a few years too late.
No morality issue here....it is just arrows. We need to ban the d*mn things.
Some years ago a 16 year old kid near where I grew up killed his father with a crossbow because the father wouldn’t let dear jr run off to florida with friends.

I’m betting there is a relationship with a male at the root cause for taking away the phone and for the over-reaction by the 15 year old girl.
Teen girls are extremely dangerous when caught up in an unhealthy illicit relationship with a male. They are not sane and they are extremely vengeful. If it’s not murder, it’s suicide ala Romeo and Juliet.

At 15 the only one I wanted to kill was my 13yo brother.........he’ll be 49 this year.
Did she take her phone in there with her?
When you have a SWAT team as a hammer, even a 15 year old girl armed with a bow and arrow looks like a nail!
Yes, but were you involved in an illicit relationship with a male and was your brother a threat to that relationship?
Actually he got off cheap.Interfering with a telecommunications device is a felony and he could have got serious jail time if she filed charges.....

I have a feeling little Rambette wouldn’t have reacted well if her internet was taken. I’m still trying to imagine a teen girl with a bow and arrow. Must have been a crazy scene.

Sounds like that minister's wife in TN (Mary Winkler?) a couple of years ago. Shot him in the back and then yanked the phone out of reach until after he died. She got off too.
I'm not a big fan of the over-use of SWAT teams either, but I don't think this case is one of them. She'd just demonstrated her willingness to kill. Running off into her familiar woods she could easily take out a few individual cops before somebody got to her. With the team, there's probably a better chance of pinning her down, overwhelming her and taking her alive.
This is one of rare cases when use of SWAT is completely justified. First, she attempted murder already. Second, have you ever seen a broadhead arrow up close & personal? They are super-sharp, and they can take a grown deer in one hit. Arrows were one of main weapons of war for centuries for a good reason - they are deadly. Any common LEO who in search of this suspect walks into the forest without armor is likely to not walk out.
Then I read your reply and calmness reasserted itself. Given the fundamental truth to your claim, I acquiesce that perhaps there is a need for SWAT teams and warrantless access to property.
My little brother’s still alive, too. I am amazed at our forbearance. :p

WOW.... good call on SWAT here ( cant believe I just said that) but standard police issue ballistic vests do not stand a chance against a arrow out of a standard hunting bow, even a target point will go right thru, short of a shield or ceramic plate you are screwed.
They are certainly dangerous, even when not flying through the air. There was a story here a few years ago, a bow hunter tripped and fell, and severed his femoral artery with the broadhead. What a way to go, when you have a few minutes to think “I just killed myself” before you pass out.

The time to prevent teen problems is the early life of the child—the first 6-8 years.
If ATTACHMENT DISORDER has not been prevented, there WILL BE problems.
I have seen a handful of parents get it right. There was individuation—of course—in their teens teen years. But there was no significant rebellion of any kind.
Are the gun control folks now going to go after bows and arrows?

This is attempted murder, no doubt, with the fact that after DELIBERATELY shooting her father, she wouldn’t even let him use her cell phone to call for help.
A 15 year old with a hunting bow who knows how to use it and showed a willingness to by shooting and trying to kill her own father.
That warrants a SWAT team, IMO.
If she’s willing to shoot her own father, she won’t stop at anyone else.
A girl shot me in the ass 60 years ago but it was called target practice!
Personally, they should leave in the woods (after shutting of her cell phone service) until she comes out cold, dirty and hungry crawling on her hands and knees begging for forgiveness.
Or surround her with speakers blaring Lawrence Welk music until she cries uncle.
Either works for me. I’m worried that a SWAT Team might shoot a neighbor’s dog or some errant camper or woodcutter, so sending them seems a poor choice.
It won’t be pretty if she actually feathers one of those guys from a hidden position and a 15 year old girl might be that bat guano crazy.

lol....I used to blame the parents too, until my girls became teenagers.
I’m pretty sure my girls would have let me use the phone after they shot me with an arrow.
Adult jail time plus she never gets to own, touch, purchase, use, etc a cell phone EVER AGAIN.
