Please watch German movie The Lives of Others about Stasi snooping on East German citizens than compare it with what is available on Facebook, LinkedIn and other "social media" about you, your family, friends, business associates, who do you associate with, what you do, when and where.
STASI could only dream about it.
There is no need for totalitarian acronym agencies to spend money and manpower on spying on citizens - sheeple do it themselves, with their own resources, on their own time.
Forget about corporations spending millions on data mining - sheeple customers provide information for free?
Ask anyone younger than 30 how important their privacy is to them and you'll learn how will they defend YOUR RIGHT to privacy.

Concerning about drowning in debt, the biggest problem is this mentality of “keeping up with the Jones”. I busted my tail to be debt free. Granted I live in a simple 1800 sqr ft townhouse but I own it ! Of course television, I equate it to idiot box. Back on debt free, I know if you are in deep debt, your boss at work has you by the b@!!s in terms of controlling you. I remember one manager I worked for, he found out I was debt free and he resented it and he was a control freak ! I also try to keep my financial cards to myself.
