"Contribut0r" Palin? (Vanity)
Facebook | Today | Springfield Reformer

Posted on 06/03/2011 5:54:28 AM PDT by Springfield Reformer

In response to Fox's brand new practice of calling Governor Palin "Contributor Palin," some of my Facebook buddies have started a campaign where we're putting "It's Gov. Palin to You" in the subject line and sending a strongly worded missive to one or more of the following emails:

studiob@foxnews.com hannity@foxnews.com oreilly@foxnews.com kelly@foxnews.com yourcomments@foxnews.com

It's time to stand up for what's right. That's all.

It should be “Governor Palin” at all times. “Contributor Palin” is demeaning.

It’s a sad day when Facebook material is considered news.

Regardless, the story line has merit.

I truly find the Fox attitude Sexist. Are they referring to Gov. Huckabee as “Talk Show Host Huckabee”?

When Fox joins the Ministry of Truth (aka the MSM), Facebook and the rest of the net is all we have left. It will be a sad day when Obama shuts that down.

Watched Fox and Friends this morning and the interview with Mitt Romney. Brian Kilmeade couldn’t have been anymore demeaning of Gov. Palin. He’s turned into a shill for Bowbama.

>>> “Contributor Palin” is demeaning.

But not so demeaning she won’t cash the paychecks right?

She IS a Fox contributor. What is so unreasonable in Fox accurately differentiating to the viewers the unpaid news guests and staff.

And how do you think this sort of paranoia reflects on Sarah.

Dear Sheppard,

I listened with curiosity this week when you introduced a “news” story as follows: “Sarah Palin, who quit as Gov. of Alaska, made a stop in New York City earlier……..”

Funny how you decided to connect these two completely unrelated facts. Here’s somealternate intros for you;

“I’m Shep Smith, I’ve been convicted of a DUI, I’m a liberal hack, and Welcome to Studio B.”

OR

“President Obama, close friend of William Ayers the terrorist, suggested Israel begin peaces talk negotiations with the PLA……”

OR

“Former President Clinton, who was impeached, lost his law license and was accused of rape by several women, spoke with our very own…..”

ALL of these opening “news” lead-ins would be 100% factually true, right?

You’re fooling absolutely no one. You’re a partisan hack, an Obama loving sycophant and a rather poor excuse for a “journo-list.”

This is ridiculous.

“Contributor” is not an insult. That’s what she is. She is no longer governor, and, although the title could still be applied, I expect Sarah to wear many more hats before she’s done.

Relax about it. We have bigger and more important battles to fight.

This is just silly.

When brought this up over a year ago, I was told by folks that she requested to not be called Governor. Times change, I do understand.

Not an insult? Tell me of one other “contributor,” on Fox or any other network, where “contributor” is expressly used of any other accomplished political office holder? Ailes means to have people not think of her as Gov. Palin.

There is a serious combination of contract and timing issues that underlie all this. She can’t just quit. July 26 is the last day of the two year statute of limitation on filing suit against her as Governor of Alaska. If another suit is filed before that date, she will have to defend herself. But because Alaska does not allow a public official to use public money to defend themselves against such complaints, she will have to use her own resources. So if she quits too soon, she can have real financial trouble. If she can defer until after that date, she can predict her circumstances a lot better, and will probably declare soon after.

So it’s not as simple as “take this job and shove it,” as much as I am sure she would like to. I’ve had to hold on to unpleasant situations like that too, so I feel for her. But the willful insults while waiting for my ticket out? No, I didn’t have that. Indeed, contract law suggests she may have a suit against Fox after this, if the facts can be proved up. They appear to be deliberately interfering with her candidacy by forcing her to create a false impression she’s not running because she was not treated the same as the other candidates, i.e., not let out of her contract, which doubtless has substantial penalties for breach on her part.

My apologies for the structure of my post. I was in a huge hurry to get out the door this morning and I wanted to let people here know about the email campaign to Fox. I happened to hear about it on FB, but I don’t think its quite right to say FB is the basis of the story. The video with Shep Smith that got me and my fellow FBers all fired up is here:

I should have posted the link from the beginning. My bad.

"I should have posted the link from the beginning. My bad."

It's a sad day when meaningless pop culture parlance such as my bad" passes for intelligent discourse on FreeRepublic.

Language is as meaningful as it’s users allow. You knew what I meant. Ipso facto, the expression “my bad” was not meaningless.
