MIAMI (CBS4) – City of Miami Police are desperate to find a mother and her five children after she allegedly beat up a Department of Children & Families case worker coming to take away the kids.

Authorities say DCF worker Lovern Alleyne-Babb, along with another co-worker, went to the home on the 400 block of Northwest 6th Street on April 8 with orders to remove the children from the home.

Once inside, police say the children’s mother, Caneema Atkins, lunged at Alleyne-Babb punching her in the nose and stomping on her eyeglasses.

Why does this photo not surprise me?

The so called “Child Protective Services” people can be the most vile, cruel individuals imaginable. In many cases, the entire system is cynical and demonic.

If you’ve never done so, read this story. It’s very long, but eye opening, and I don’t think it’s an isolated account.

“We had the power of arrest and used it”.

For those cases that weren’t easily explained (like toddlers really do fall or Junior really did stick frozen peas up his nose)... imagine the lives you may have changed for the better. If not the better, than at least for the time the abuser was locked up.

My wife, who has spent over a decade helping single moms, often has told me of incidents where the child welfare agents have threatened clients with taking all children away if the mom would not follow their “recommendation” for this or that minor matter. Consequently, I now know that not all cases of “abuse” are abuse of a child by a parent but are in fact attempts at tyrannous abuse of government upon a relatively helpless and financially dependent poor family.

And they are sometimes falsely reported. Innocent families have been destroyed or marred because of DCFS.

You are assuming that the mother is guilty without information to support that warrant.

The presence of a government employee at the scene does automatically indicate that the private citizen is guilty.

I like to think that I/we were astute enough to recognize what was going on. Our track record was pretty good. As my old Sergeant told us in the Police Academy, “your greatest power is that of discretion.”

“... they are sometimes falsely reported”

Very true. There are unfortunately the cases that go unreported, hidden or they simply find the little bodies later.

There are both cases: one where Social Services completely over-reacts to something like bible study and the cases that make us want to vomit. It is that simple.

True, but it seems the social serpents go after the former because they are less likely to suffer any personal repercussions than they would be from the latter. I have seen both ends of it, where there were good and gentle people unjustly accused, and the horror show of the real thing (as EMS). All too often, in the latter case, the child is released back into the genuinely abusive situation while the wrongly accused are dragged through a titwringer.

The “child savers” destroyed our family. There are sooo many variables here, we can’t pass judgement either way. The most I will say is: I’m surprised this doesn’t happen more often. Pray for the kids.

None of those three scenarios apply in this case.

A false report, however, could apply.

It is a tragedy that, all too often, CPS removes children from loving, great parents because they fell afoul of some PC rule, and ignores cases of genuinely abused children.

The government (DCFS) is not there to help.

“Government (DCFS) is not reason, it is not eloquence, it is force; like fire, a troublesome servant and a fearful master. Never for a moment should it be left to irresponsible action.” —George Washington

I suspect the former, since a court order was not mentioned.

However, that does not mean there was no court order.

The comments at the site are interesting; many of them are in support of the mother.
