I just caught a story on WFAA-TV News about the Westboro loons coming to Dallas on Sunday June 5, 2011 from 6:15 PM to 7:00 PM. The site of their event is the American Airlines Center, timed to occur just prior to Game 3 of the NBA Finals between the Miami Heat and the Dallas Mavericks.
Their claim is:
WBC will picket the NBA game between the Dallas Mavericks and the Miami Heat to warn this nation that they need to tear down their idols and worship only the true God, Jesus Christ. The people of Doomed america [sic] set up these spoiled, rebellious basketball players and other celebrities as little gods that they emulate then curse the real God, Jesus Christ because He does not supprt [sic] their vile sins.
Like the ancient Israelites, this nation has turned their collective back on the the Lord their God and refused to obey. The prefer to worship their powerless idols and pay false prophets to lie to them. They would rather live like these filthy celebrities by fornicating, divorcing & remarrying, and supporting fag-filth than to hear about God's standards - to the peril of their never-dying souls. Nevertheless, WBC will kindly warn them to flee the wrath to come by repenting and obeying. Doomed americans [sic] cannot continue to live for the devil then expect to get to heaven. Hell and damnation awaits these idolatrous fools.
I'll not dishonor Free Republic by linking to the Westboro site (nor will I refer to it as a church) but a web search will lead you to the story.
Let the MAAniacs take care of them.....they’ll do the Cupid Shuffle on their heads.
Is there anything, anyone the Wesboro group doesn’t hate?
At least it will keep them busy and not harassing families of veterans at funerals.
They seem quite fond of their fellow Democrats. Really.
Those Westboro people are the true definition of looney tunes. Not enough straight jackets to cover those fools up. God doesn’t hate the NBA, but I bet he got a good chuckle at seeing Miami blow a 15 point lead last night
As did I. I was reminded of Al Michael's and his unforgettable line from 1980's hockey match won by America over the commies:
God does not hate the NBA but I’m guessing he has not followed much since the GREAT Jerry West Ret. in late ‘74. Fellow oldsters will remember ‘Mr Clutch’...’Zeke from cabin creek’!!! The young’ns? They think this tatooed up thug ball bullcrap now is the greatest show on earth!!
The second I saw those two arrogant jerks Wade and LeChoke have a little celebration in front of the Mavs bench I knew the Mavs would win that game. Note to ALL teams out there, never celebrate til the final buzzer rings..as a die hard Laker fan I have a lot of respect for Dallas and I hope that Dirk gets his ring..watching Miami lose will make this Laker fan feel a little bit better about this crazy season
Outen the skunk bombs and watch those things disappear!
This one I can almost understand.
I resent tax money being used to benefit team owners: separation of church & state should apply.
I think they should protest the Hells Angels next.
i believe he ran for Senate or Governor, and got like 30% of the votes... a LOT of Democrats actually voted for him...
but i don’t understand, why people pay attention to them. they should be “shunned” and totally ignored.
...deny them the publicity they seek !
I'd make a mint with a popcorn stand for that "encounter". :-)
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
Why can’t they do something useful and protest at a Justin Bieber concert?
Why did I just know that you'd find this thread?
I was about to ping you...but I had faith that you'd arrive on the scene sooner or later! :-)
Thanks, Sarah. I love Dirk and the Mavs and hope they can win. One thing’s sure, though, the Heat won’t celebrate till it’s over again.
