Alabama governor signs tough new immigration law (power to arrest illegals on sight)

(CNN) -- Alabama's governor has signed what he billed as tough illegal immigration legislation, requiring police to check the status of anyone they suspect may be in the country illegally when stopped for another reason.

The bill, due to take effect on September 1, was signed into law by Republican Gov. Robert Bentley on Thursday.

Its passage makes Alabama the latest in a series of states, including Georgia and Arizona, to enact controversial new laws aimed at tackling illegal immigration.

Civil rights groups and the Mexican government have been quick to condemn the move.

According to a fact sheet presented by Alabama House Republicans, the bill will require law enforcement officers "to attempt to determine the immigration status of a person who they suspect is an unauthorized alien of this country".

The legislation also makes it a criminal offense to provide transport or housing to an illegal immigrant. The state will have to check the citizenship of students, and any business that knowingly employs an illegal immigrant will be penalized.

Alabama is about to prove the effectiveness of self deportation. The illegals might not go back to Mexico, but they will get their illegal asses out of Alabama.

“The legislation also makes it a criminal offense to provide transport or housing to an illegal immigrant. “

Good for Alabama citizenry. Legal, controlled immigration is great...it is just these illegal aliens who are invading our country that are the problem. I salute Americans taking back America from these illegal trespassers.

If we had a govenor with some balls here in Texas, he would be doing the same. Instead his response was, “ The Arizona law is not right for Texas.” Now we have people pushing for this nutless wonder to run for president. Not NO, but HELL NO!!

For some reason the entire thread was deleted from Free Republic. Extremely bizarre, not sure what’s going on.

The UK Daily Mail breaks many stories, is pretty conservative by what I read there, and reports conservative stories the press won’t TOUCH here.

But for some reason, someone decided to change the title to place the description “UK TABLOID:” in front of the title, and then to delete it entirely, even though it was getting many favorable comments from Freepers.

No explanation given whatsoever.

Anyway, here’s the link to the article I posted:

“Alabama gives police power to arrest illegal immigrants on sight in toughest law yet”

Not all “civil rights” advocates come at it from the left. Note the ACLJ for one.

It’s unconstitutional. The federal government has power to not enforce its own laws, and the states are not allowed to enforce them instead, because the federal government just likes to wreck states’ quality of life, economy, and make a shambles of the rule of law, all of which are powers specifically reserved for the federal guvermint.

If this actually succeeds in pushing illegales out of Alabama, the crime rate will decline.

Civil rights groups and the Mexican government have been quick to condemn the move.
...........................................................
You mean the same Mexican Government who has lost control of it’s own country?

As for Civel Rights groups, They arent really Civil Rights groups. They could care less about my rights. They are ethnic bigots who wish to help their ethnic group at the expense of others.

The NAACP is merely the Klan with a tan
CAIR is merely Al Quaeda working under cover.
Latin-American groups , Like La Raza want our country.

You call these Civil rights groups.?

I call them ethnics out for themselves, and the hell with anybody else. Bigots.
