BAGHDAD (AP) - Available soon: nine palaces in lakeside complex frequented by visiting kings and dictators, beautiful molded ceilings and light fixtures, many bidets, Saddam Hussein mural and former prison cell. As is, with Tomahawk missile damage. Contact: U.S. Army.
Thus might read a real estate ad for the Victory Base Complex, one of the many properties the U.S. military is vacating as the Dec. 31 deadline for its withdrawal from Iraq approaches. It will leave behind probably some of the most elaborate, some would say tacky, office spaces ever used by American soldiers, sailors or Marines.

How about move them to Chicago or Detroit for inner-city housing?
Worked out well in the '70s./s
DEAL! And don’t make us come again!
Awwwwww.....:o)
BTTT !
Burn em. Blow the GD things sky high.
Yep....I worked in two of those palaces.
Like an Army Captain said to me once, “Damn...Saddam really had it going on.” LOL
After the Great Foreclosure of 2003, he lived rather modestly.
Before or after Sadam?
The palaces weren't there before Saddam.
And I certainly wasn't in Iraq during Saddam. ;-)
Part of the looted crap saddams troops left on the hell highway during desert storm I found a solid gold bathroom faucet set.
Crazy stuff they had in the gulf region.
Crazy, isn't it?
They still had some of the gold bathroom fixtures in the Presidential Palace in the IZ when it was being used as our embassy.
We need to write a book with our pictures from our tours over there.
Stay Safe young lady....
