Now we can attach names to the world's most famous make-out artists.

Among the images of the Vancouver hockey riots was a photo of a couple locked in passion, on the pavement amid the broken glass, the police and tear gas.

...

Family members of Scott Jones have identified their brother and son. They say he is working in Vancouver as a bartender and stand-up comic and that the young woman is his girlfriend, Canadian Alex Thomas.

...

"They were between the riot police and the rioters, and the riot police were actually charging forward, and Alex got knocked by a [police] shield and fell to the ground," Brett Jones, Scott's father told CBC News. "[Scott] was comforting her and gave her a kiss to say, 'It's going to be OK,' and the photographer just took the shot at that moment."

...

It reported that at Jones' mother "Megan Jones, was shocked to spot her son lying in the middle of the street

" 'It is something he would do, that's our boy. He has always lived in his own world, he's special like that. He doesn't always connect with what going on around him.

...

" 'I'd have to have my house flooded to get on the news, but he just has to kiss a beautiful girl,' she said."

That is a great picture!

Reminds me of an Einstein quote

“Any man who can drive safely while kissing a pretty girl is simply not giving the kiss the attention it deserves.”

He doesn't always connect with what going on around him.

98% of the US's population today. Spot on.

About the same percentage of Canadians, too.

I have heard this was completely and totally staged with lighting, tripods and so on.

Funny, when I heard about this. I am from Boston, and when I got home after the game, another Freeper had sent me a link to live camera feeds of the riot. I did not get to bed until after 0200. I literally could not stop watching. It was mostly anger inducing and disturbing (occasionally interesting and even funny, dumb ass falling into burning car, numb nuts guy hit in the testicles with some kind of exploding crowd control thingie) but I saw a lot more that disturbed me.

But in light of this, there was one thing I saw off to the side, and since there was no rewind, I thought my eyes were deceiving me, or I must have misinterpreted it.

At one point, there was a burning car with a bunch of the usual idiots, and off to the side I saw a man and woman walk near the fire, and something in their attitude or posture made me think they were going to have sex right there. I can’t put my finger on it, but the way they slowed down walking, looked around slyly, stopped and pressed their bodies against each other brought sex immediately to mind. I only saw it for a second or two, and my eyes went right to it, but they disappeared behind a concrete thing and the video camera was panning.

I wonder if they were just doing this stuff in different scenes, trying to find the right one?

In all candor - If I were in the middle of a riot with baton-wielding coppers in proximity - I’d grab the nearest female to me and do the same thing. I figger I ain’t got long to live - anyhow.

The Einstein quote I like better is the one about time and relativity:

"Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. THAT'S relativity."

I’ve seen people with strange sexual triggers all throughout my life. People who are turned on during funerals (very common) people who are turned on during car accidents (VERY common) and people who are turned on by dead corpses.

The idea that chaos triggers a sexual response in people doesn’t surprise me. I don’t think this is a romantic gesture. I do think that it’s normal for the boy’s parents to spin it towards innocence. Who wants to see their young one getting busy in public ?

Do you know people, preferably chicks but at some point who am I to argue - who are turned on by balding, pot bellied, bad-toothed polacks? And can I have their numbers?

I have heard it said by combat veterans that there is something about the prospect of losing your life that prods the procreative urge. (See “Goodbye Darkness” by William Manchester...a liberal, but a Marine nonetheless)

Yeah, they’re saying that she (or maybe both of them) were knocked down by police and she hit her head on the pavement, and he was down there comforting her. There’s another angle I’ve seen, supposedly taken seconds later from a rooftop, that has him and a couple of other guys out there over top of the girl as if checking her for injuries.

Still, there’s no way this would’ve gone as viral as it did if it hadn’t turned out to be an upskirt shot.
