I agree with you. I went to high school with a guy who learned to play the saxaphone from one of Clemons' former band mates from Plainfield, New Jersey.

The saxaphone and piano were some of the unique elements of the E Street Band that really set it apart from typical rock bands of the 70s and 80s.

His masterful work on the Sax made Born to Run the best Rock song of all time. (IMHO of course)

Clemons was obese and blacks are relatively more vulnerable to high blood pressure, so a stroke is not surprising.

How sad. I always enjoyed the early Springsteen stuff and their live music. RIP, Mr. Clemons.

Never knew Clarence covered that.

Here’s the original from the Philly band The A’s: http://www.myspace.com/theasfanpage

That song was in Rush’s bumper music rotation for years.

I don’t do the “stadium” live shows anymore. There are too many small venues and listening rooms around me that charge nothing to $20 for fairly good music. These places are so intimate the musicians can’t get away with faking it. Last one I paid for, the group used four string musicians on top of the regular band. Totally crowded stage, amazing sound.

Clarence was the second best sax player, behind Junior Walker.
