I have two friends who live on each side of this home and they are next. When the hurricanes and natural disasters happen in Liberal States, they sit on their roofs and cry for help and want the Government to come save them and get everything for free. When it happens in a Red State such as North Dakota, the citizens work together and depend on themselves and not the Governemnt. If this tradgedy was in a Blue State, it would be on the news 24/7 and all your tax money would be flowing there. But I bet you have not even heard about how bad this is up there.
Mark Levin said the dams upstream are “eco-green” friendly and this is not helping the flooding.. Is this true?
We’ve started moving machinery and setting up pallet racking in an unused plant of ours in Fargo to store goods coming down from Minot.
We’ve been getting news of it here in Australia. All the bad weather the US has been going through these past several months.

I don’t know what he means by eco-green. Garrison Dam in North Dakota is a mammoth earth-filled dam, but I’m not sure about Montana’s Fort Peck or South Dakota’s Oahe.
They are all huge dams and back up the Missouri River into reservoirs 175-200 miles long EACH.
This year there is just too much water both from spring rains and incredible winter snowpack-—the dams aren’t breaking or anything, they are just filled to capacity and the excess water runs over the spillways.
The big flood news out of North Dakota the past few days is in Minot, on a completely different river system, the comparatively tiny Souris River which flows down to Minot out of Canada. This year the little Souris is big and roaring and is really going to lay waste to Minot, a college & USAF base town of around 50,000 people. Crap, I saw one headline that indicated 40,000 people were going to be evacuated. That doesn’t leave a lot of property, or lives, untouched.
Mark is indicating the flooding could have all been prevented. He was quoting some damn leftist whack job in the Army Corp of Engineers as saying this was the way things use to be anyway. The dams are all open because of these idiots!
If the damn cCncdians and their liberal cohorts in audobon society would not have killed the Garrison Diversion Projects in the 80’s this would not be happening..
The entire state of North Dakota is awash in too much water. The Red in Fargo stayed above flood stage for a record 77 days. We all know of the misery the Missouri has spread in Bismarck and the Souris in Minot. Meanwhile I’ve got pictures my friends have sent me of the far west of the state of tractors stuck fast in mud. Normally dust is more common that mud of ever was here.
I’ve been through Minot. A nice place. The badlands close to there are beautiful.
I have yet to see a comprehensive flooding assessment.
Here and there are warning about flooding in the Pacific northwest, then the Colorado River on the West side of the Rockies, the East side of the Rockies, the northern Rockies, then to the Platte River and the Missouri and parts East.
This is turning into a national disaster with about a half dozen “epicenters”.
And they, (0 admin)wonder why we don’t like them. We feel about them as they do us.

The problem is Army Corps of Engineers mismanagement. They should have been letting water out in a controlled manner for months ahead of this, but they didn’t. They failed.

The USACE has built a network of 6 dams on the Missouri to control floods and winter runoff. As a result, huge investments have been made in residential, commercial and agricultural properties in areas which were once prone to flooding but are now supposedly “protected” through planned releases. The two uppermost dams, Fort Peck and Garrison, are overwhelmed and the Corps has known all winter and spring that the snow pack levels in the mountains were nearly unprecedented. The Corps has been slow to react, plain and simple. Now, thousands of people are in harm’s way who should not be.
And, the Fort Peck Dam is an old hydraulic fill dam that stretches for miles. What is not being said is that it is under strain. Pray that it does not fail because if it does, we would see a disaster of unimaginable proportion all the way to St. Louis. There are some in the Corps who are very concerned. Believe it.

American Thinker online mag (June 23) has a great article about the idiocy and also the willful destructive management practices the Corps have been practicing for years now.
I’m too clueless to know how to post it but the title is “The Purposeful Flooding of America’s Heartland.”
Devastating piece. They have some punk murderous bureaucrat quoted in the story saying the horrific flooding “may be prolonged headache for the small towns and farmers along the way but it is a boon for endangered species.”
That is about a half a step from the Bolsheviks justifying the starvation of Russian peasantry for the larger interest of the Revolution.
But the Commies, at least, wreaked their evil in false (and deadly) pursuit of a perfect society. These scumbags do it in the name of the plover, the ferret, the spotted owl, the snail darter.
Or so they say.
Here is a link to Minot’s tv station that is giving a minute by minute broadcast about the flood. At noon today they got the word that the flood level is increased by 3.5 more feet.
