Posted on 07/04/2011 5:35:00 AM PDT by truthkeeper
Good Morning to all, and Happy Independence Day.
There are also sure to be courtroom fireworks as the State gives it rebuttal and the case is expected to be sent to the jury.
Court is starting early today at 8:30 a.m.
The countdown for justice for Caylee begins.
Good morning, FRiends. Happy 4th to all of you.
Lets hope the prosecution does a slam dunk today. Caylee needs some justice.
What happened to her is so unbelievable and unfair.
Why is this taking place on the weekend and the holiday? Isn’t court closed?
Sometimes it is hard to wrap our minds around this. I just hope the jury can.
Good morning and HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!!
Thanks so much for doing these threads.
For anyone interested here is a link for live streaming from here in Orlando:
And here is an excellent timeline for the story:
Good morning, onyx. It’s nice to see you.
Justice should NEVER take a Holiday.
There is a young woman who lives across the street that looks so much like Casey. She talks to her kids like dogs.
All I have to do to believe something like this can happen is look at her.
The neighbor on the other side of this woman confronted her because she heard her smacking her oldest little boy around.
Proceedings are starting now at 8:30 a.m. on the dot. Baez objecting to rebuttal arguments being split between the prosecutors.
A commentator mentioned today that during the State's opening yesterday, one woman had her head down and was writing the entire while Ashton was speaking. She did not look at him, she just wrote. She was a grandmother, don't know if she was the infamous Juror #4, and don't know what it means.
Good morning Miss Truthkeeper! What a way to spend the Fourth.
Morning all - Happy 4th!
Interesting- I hadn’t heard about the juror writing.
Here is a list of the jurors:
Juror No. 4
A black female possibly in her 40’s who said that she did not like to judge people by what other people said about them.
Pre-Trial Publicity: She said nothing that she heard about the case would influence her own opinion.
Death Penalty: She said that she “thinks” she could recommend the death sentence after weighing the aggravating and mitigating circumstances. “I just don’t like to point my finger at anyone,” she said. “What I mean by that is, judging someone by what they say.”
The prosecution tried three times, once for cause and twice with peremptory challenges, to remove this juror from the panel. The prosecution objected, saying that the challenge was racially biased. Judge Perry agreed, and would not allow the peremptory strike.
Ashton up! So much better to tlisten to than Baez!
Casey looking giddy and crap while jury is out of the courtroom and once they come in she puts on her sour puss “Feel sorry for me” look. This kind of sick twisted POS needs the to go. Hope the jury will not be convinced of Beaz BS tactics.
I’m not sure what all this body language stuff means. To me it is akin to phrenology - the reading of bumps on the head. TV commentators love this stuff - I actually heard one say that a juror was drumming a pen on her thigh - as if this meant anything.
So I’m not really worried about any of this. Now, a lady who says she has trouble judging anyone - that scares me!
Thank you again for doing this, Truth.
Just heard a newsie on Fox debating Judge Alex on the “no evidence” canard. There IS evidence, lots more evidence than in many cases. I just hope one of her clones isn’t sitting on this jury.
I’ve followed this case closely, from those first few days in 2008 as the details began to emerge, to the closing arguments. In my mind, I don’t know how ANYONE could vote not-guilty for Casey. Her words and actions scream “I did it!”. Even her own mother perjured herself to protect her.
Casey is a narcissist of the first order, similar to O.J. Simpson. Destroying the lives of others means nothing, as long as prison is avoided. It worked for O.J. (at least in his murder trial) and we’ll know soon if it works for Casey. My bet? She’ll be found guilty.
I am having trouble following this morning. My brain is still in bed. :)
See post # 14 about juror #4. It may not be as bad as it seems.
When the media makes generalizations I’ve learned to try and check the source ;) I’ve noticed it a lot during this trial- someone will make a sweeping statement that becomes accepted as fact when in fact it’s a distortion.
There are 7 counts against Casey, so I doubt there is even a slight chance in hell she walks away free and clear.
Kharis are you here in Florida?
Surely I didn’t just see Baez making faces?! Oh, wait.....yes I did!
Actually, you CAN tell a lot by watching people carefully. So I give it some credence, while at the same time remembering that some of these body language “experts” are also playing for a teevee audience, and might embellish things somewhat for the sensationalism.
So glad the prosecutor is going after Dr. Spitz. Sort of made hash of him, in fact.
yes, I saw early in the first few minutes, Baez was frowning and shaking his head, “no”.
It’s only racially motivated because black Americans tend to be very forgiving (”redemption”) about criminals without wanting to afford them any punishment. This comes from so many black men being locked up in prison. It’s a problem on juries.
Happy 4th of July! As much as I want Casey to be found guilty on all charges, I’m afraid she will get off and there won’t be justice for that precious little girl. We need to pray that Casey gets just what she deserves. I hope the jurors can see through Baez’s lies.
The last time I felt this nervous was during the ‘08 election when I was pulling for McCain/Palin and we all know how that turned out.
I want some more of his fire and brimstone - maybe coming up down the line.
There... fixed it for you !
Ashton is doing a good job trying to remove doubt that Baez has sown concerning forensics.
I kinda disagree. When I look at Casey, I don’t really care where her hands are or what her shoulders are doing. Her terrible facial expressions are what intrigues me. She goes from that pooched-mouthed sulky, angry look, to fake and real tears, to boredom and sleepiness and hissing fury. The last - which Nancy Grace keeps playing over and over again - makes her look like Ted Bundy!!
I've heard the same thing, that pertains mostly to black male defendants. Any such bias may not be a problem in this case. The commentator did mention that all the OTHER jurors (except the grandmother) didn't take their eyes off Ashton while he was speaking.
He’s just tying it together. He has thought this through.
"If the chloroform exists (in the trunk), you must convict!"
Well, maybe he doesn’t want to jerk those poor jurors out of their sleepy morning. Unlike the Judge, they don’t have a thermos of hot coffee to keep them awake!
I call that look as The Angry Guppy. Not sure what she thinks that's accomplishing as it is a manufactured look and to me it wouldn;t win over favor from the jurors.
With Casey, you can’t trust the pop-analysis. Above all, she’s an actress, and she’s getting better at it over time. It wouldn’t surprise me if it came out that she practiced crying, just for instance, once she realized her lack of proper emotion was turning off the jury.
Most of us are not sociopaths, and give clues to what’s really on our minds all the time. Really good poker players use it their advantage frequently.
I still don’t understand how premeditation isn’t completely evident. First of all, the mandible is in place, so the duct tape was there at the time of death (preposterous to believe it was placed there later anyway). Secondly, the fact that there was duct tape on the face proves she killed her by suffocation and that she intended to kill her by suffocation, or she wouldn’t have had the duct tape with her in the first place. Everything else is irrelevant to the fact, really. What am I missing?
Actually, her facial expression reminds me of how Tiger Woods looked when he was going through his "trials"
I’ve served 3 times on jury duty (doesn’t exactly make me an expert, does it?!) and we always had one black male jury member. They always wanted to go for acquittal no matter what the race of the defendant. Sometimes this is good because it makes other jurors put on their thinking caps and work out the truth. On the other hand, it can be really trying!
from evidence to reasonable doubt......moving along.
GM all...I didn’t know court started early. Has Ashton been speaking very long?? Did I miss something important?? Happy 4th everyone
Good morning everyone!
Ashton has gotton past the "boring" part early. He's building his blocks again and I'll bet it will be a fantastic finish!
Yes, the Angry Guppy look. Perfect. It’s amazing how homely she’s turned out to be once the hair streaks and makeup have been taken away. Her true character is sooooo evident.
Burn the witch already.
