QUINCY - A Reno man who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder stemming from a Saturday night car chase in the remote backcountry near Antelope Lake could face additional charges after one of the men he shot died today.

Gregory Wallen-Reed, 36, who owns a home near Janesville, pursued a blue sedan that left his property after its occupants allegedly stole solar lights from his driveway, said Plumas County Sheriff Gregory Hagwood.

When an occupant of the sedan fired on his truck, Wallen-Reed fired back,

The cops expect him to let the robbers shoot at him?

This has funky written all over it.

From the start, you can buy solar lights at Big Lots! for a few bucks a pop. This suggests that the thieves were more like pranksters. Except that they allegedly fired on the homeowner’s vehicle. This changes the whole event, if he so much has a bullet nick on his truck.

But if he doesn’t, and the police can find no weapon or evidence of a gun in their sedan, he is in deep trouble.

More information needs to come out.

His fault, as he should not have pursued them, but reported the alleged theft to the police. (Whom we know wouldn't have done anything.)

Instead, he had the audacity to pursue them for the mere "civil infraction" of undocumented wealth redistribution.

Even more egregious, instead of simply stopping or turning around to go home when they were finally forced to fire upon him to end his manic, criminal pursuit, he took the law into his own hands and became judge, jury, and executioner!

And over what? Solar driveway lights!

End Liberal take

This man defended his life from criminals who escalated things beyond all reason by firing upon him for merely following them, because the police have no interest in what they consider "minor crimes"; especially if it is property crime.

In a sane world, they would be wanting to know why any of the perps survived.

And, NO; it wasn't 'about solar driveway lights', anymore than a '3 strikes' conviction for armed robbery a $3 is locking away a man for 25 years because "he stole $3".

Janesville is about 23 miles from the Nevada border, in a rural county.

If the perps were actually thieves, I think the DA will have trouble with a jury in this area.

All it says is the DA has not decided if he wants reelected. This is the deep woods for Cal.

“Dead criminal and the homeowner is in jail.”

The world is upside-down.

Maybe they mean "grow" lights, along with some of the crop.

Appears that six people were in the sedan.

When an occupant of the sedan fired on his truck, Wallen-Reed fired back, Hagwood said. Two of the occupants hit by gunfire were taken by helicopter to hospitals in Reno and Chico. A third was treated and released from a Quincy hospital. Three other people were treated and released after the blue sedan crashed several miles from Wallen-Reed's residence, Hagwood said.

Looks like this guy put bullets into three people out of six in a moving car. He needs to shut up and get a good lawyer, and then he may come out okay.

Don't take it if it's not yours :^)

Wasn’t “You’re dead...boom” what old man with the shotgun said last year when he caught those guys stealing from his neighbor.

If I were selected to be in the jury, I’d be reading up on “jury nullification”.

But don't admit it to the judge or the prosecutor, or you'll be kept off the jury. For more information, check out the Fully Informed Jury Association at fija.org.
