Am I the only one that notices LAZY ignorant people?

Man oh man. What is happening to our society? Where are all of these people coming from all of the sudden? People parking in Handicapped spots that walk completely fine and then pull down the placard as they drive away. Ignorant people that cut in line at the deli, amusement park or shows. Parents on cell phone calls as their crazed kids run around uncontrollably. I ain't perfect, nor am I one of those people that said "when I was young..." Because I feel a lot of these teens have more "manners" than most adults and younger kids. WTH is going on? There is no shame and when you confront these people they completely act as if you were not there and ignore you! I find it amazing and it is getting worse at an alarming rate. Does anyone else notice this?

Some are. Some aren’t. If they’re painted red, then that’s one thing but if they’re not then it’s not against the law.

my gripe is people that can’t bother to dress when they go out.... I mean I don’t want the days of white gloves to go to the grocery store but for crying out loud.... can people at least wear shoes? or put on pants? really do I need to see pajamas? and the stupid droopy pants/underwear thing... Winning The Future!?! when is that fad going to finally go away????

"You’d think that’d make people shape up."

The only thing that will make people shape up is getting their a**es kicked. Once TSHTF, someone getting beaten up, because they cut in line or said something rude to someone who won't put up with it, will be of little concern to the police. They'll have bigger problems on their hands.

Things will definitely suck then, but the silver lining is that all sorts of Woodrow Calls ("I will not tolerate rude behavior!") will be able to teach some manners to two whole generations of little bastards who never learned them at home.

Yes, I'm a Gen Xer myself, but I was taught manners.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

This is why I carry a taser everywhere I go. You'd be surprised how polite they can become when they're getting up from a puddle of their own piss.

FWIW.......

Plenty of folks have syndromes / diseases that can't see.

I know some folks that have Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, COPD, CHF, etc....That you might not know it...at first glance.

Once again....FWIW-

Just go to COSTCO here in northern California and you will see, feel and hear things from the shoppers that will link you right to BHO. Watch out on days when they have free samples, you can not get through the people with their carts blocking the isles.

>> Don’t even get me started on how they massacre the English language.<<

That starts in Newspapers, periodicals and on commercials. Grammar and syntax are the tools of communication. If I kept my toolkit as rust and badly maintained as today’s “professional” (as in, “paid”) communicators, I wouldn’t be able to design a simple read and spew report, much less complex systems used by or for thousands of people and billions of dollars.

It seems I spend half my life completing the sentence (from radio and TV ads): “I/we won’t be beat” (”-EN!” I shout)

(of course, when posting a rant like this I expect the grammar police to swoop down upon me, but it is a risk that take I will...)

It is the curse of a wealthy society that people are allowed to become lazy. In the old days, there wasn't enough money to support the lazy so they either worked or starved to death. Now we have enough money to be “compassionate.”

I know one guy in his late 50s who got laid off 10 years ago and sat on his butt without a job for the past decade living off his retirement savings. Now that it is gone, he has “anxiety” disability and gets Welfare. I hate to say this as a Christian but he is a waste of life. And this is a person I used to be friends with.

I have a family member—in his late 30s—who was laid off two years ago and is living with his retired parents. He gets in fights with his retired father about whether he can find a job (his view is there is no work—surprise). He is on Medicaid now. I used to be on good terms with him but now am so disgusted I can't talk to him at family parties.

I know a man who lost a job about six years ago and decided to become a “house husband” while his wife (who makes good money) works. He still has a lawn service cut his lawn. He goes on trips to Europe to watch soccer. His wife is fed up yet she doesn't divorce him (they have small kids). I used to be friends with him but am so disgusted I can't talk to him anymore. I used to listen to his wife bitch about him when we were at the gym together but after a certain point, I realized she wasn't going to change and stopped listening.

These are all sad commentaries on society and sadly, we all know similar stories.

some are just plain lazy. i have a lady at work that has handicap plates, but everyday she goes for a 15-20 minute walk at break times.
if she can walk that far on a regular basis, she shouldn’t need to park 20’ from teh door.

there’s also a lot of people that have that placard for a disabled family member. i can understand having it, but they shouldn’t take advantage of it when they’re alone.

>> However there is wide spread abuse of the handicapped tag program.<<

I know I am arguing the other side of my prior post, but you have something there. California is cracking down on the handicapped placard program and the number of abuses has been astonishing.

I also forgot to mention to the OP that the rest of his/her rant is pretty right on. Especially about the kids running around unsupervised in public spaces.

Well, I’m fine, but whenever I use a handicapped spot I make sure to fake limp into the store. Just in case...

If you have the handicapped placard, it is supposed to be removed when driving.

I believe that varies by state. Some states require that you keep them in your front window.

There is a lot of absue of handicap placards. I know two people who abuse them. One parks right in front of her gym and the other goes swing dancing 2 or 3 nights a week.

I was amazed one day when I was at Costco buying bottled water. I couldn't lift the cartons so I was opening the boxes and putting them in the trunk a gallon at a time. A woman kindly offered her help. She could easily lift the cartons and lifted three of them. Amazing.

I asked her how she could do that and she replied, "I lay carpeting for a living and have to lift big rolls of carpet all the time." She then walked to her car which had a placard and was parked in a handicap spot.

If you want to see a lot of abuse just go to Lowes or Home Depot. It seems as if all the illegal construction workers have handicap placards.

One of the things that really ruins the costco experience for me is all the people waiting like beggars for free samples. It really gums things up.

The upside is the “dim sum” lunches I get there for free. ;-)

I have a friend who has a heart condition and cannot walk more than 30 feet without huffing and puffing. On the outside he looks healthy as a horse. He has the handicapped placard, but still gets a lot of grief from people who assume he has parked illegally. It has gotten so bad that he now affects a very nice limp as he walks to and from his car.
