Today is the day she may walk free. Prepare yourselves.
Call me Pollyanna, but the Judge did give FingerBoy 6 days. Hopefully he has scoured the law so she can cool her heels a little longer.
Total of 4 years.
Judge: Count 4 — Universal Studios — expend aw enforcement resources.
Count 5 — Left child at Sawgrass Apartments
Count 6 — Informed employees at US of Caylee’s disappearance
Count 7 — Rcd call from Caylee
4 separate distinct lies cause law enforcement to expend a great deal of manpower and resources from July through December.
4 Distinct separate lies. Jury spoke loud and clear on 4,5,6,7. Sentence to one 1 and $1000 fine on each all 4 counts consecutive, giving credit for time served.. figure this out with Baez. Will take 1 hour to sort out because of previous sentences.
Judge just gave her the MAX he could..
Court finds re: double jeopardy—goes over each lie and effect on law enforcement in tracking down the facts;
Says as a result of those four DISTINCT and SEPARATE lies, law enforecement expended resources for Caylee Marie Anthony, uses her FULL name every time.
Jury spoke loud and clear on counts 4,5,6 & 7.
There being no legal cause to reconsider otherwise, sentences Casey for one year for EACH count, with time credited for time served. Will figure that out with attornies—one hour to sort out time previously served.
One year and $1000 per count to run concurrently. They will take into account time served.
She can cancel her partee plans for tonight! Woo-hoo! Best news in days.
Did you notice..he really enjoyed saying CON-SEC-U-TIVE-LY
How’s she reacting?
That should have said 1 year and $1000 fine on each count.
“At least it would take a little of the profit out of her upcoming media cash cow.”
The fact that there is the possibility of a ‘media cash’ bonanza is disgusting and says a lot about the current state of the nation. There would be no media interest if there wasn’t an audience out there for it. There would be no profit for this if people didn’t tune in.
Actually, he could have said they cannot count time served, that was his decision under FL law according to the talking heads.
Forgive the error, I meant consecutively.
NOT concurrent..it’s consecutive..
Consecutively. Four years in total—one year for each count of false statements to police.
Wait, judge put the attorney who gave the bird in jail?
I happen to agree with you.
I think she was probably guilty, but not beyond a reasonable doubt.
The constitutional restraints on government, and the burden it must meet to deprive a person if liberty is intentionally high.
In a world where government power seems nearly endless, it is comforting to know they can’t just lock us up and send us off to camps on a whim like is done in so many countries.
I think the right to trial by jury, right to counsel and confrontation preserve freedoms for us in ways that we have come to take for granted.
These principles are more important than any one case.
Ms. Anthony will get hers in the end. God is not bound by Double Jeapardy.
Actually, she WAS convicted of lying and how do they seperate that out from the murder acquital? Any profit from any of this should NOT be allowed.
Same ol poker face now. Sort of pouty.
You already caught your mistake—didn’t mean to pile on.
The little POS wants it all. I am truly sick at this point. What about Caylee?
Yes, he could have, but given that the jury ACQUITTED her of all the top counts..it would have wrong to do so..
White, female, 32, living with mother. However, she is an RN student. Hah!
No Applebee’s tonite for CA!
I agree! If I was on that jury, it would have been deadlocked because no way would I agree to a “not-guilty” verdict.
I think it was someone just attending the trial.
Court costs. She can appeal.
The Defense made a big mistake celebrating in public the other day.
There’s one hero in this story: Ms. Drane-Burdick (sic) who is still here fighting for justice. God bless her.
No financial assets to appeal.
With gain time applied, up to 15%, she has to serve 3.4 years. She has already done almost 3 years. She does 90 days or so. Probably won’t even get to the state prison.
Does that mean that if she appeals, she would have to use a court appointed atty not Baez?
Court recessed—no further matters to discuss.
Right after the verdict was read I said, “watch, a juror will come out and say we believe she was guilty but the evidence just wasn’t there...”. I knew it would be said and I knew it would piss me off. Here’s the problem with that “excuse”.
When a juror begins a trial they are to have a presumption of innocence for the defendant. After the State finishes their case, a juror, as in this case, then concludes the person is guilty. Then the defense comes in and presents their case. After the defense is finished and closing arguments are completed, a juror (jury) still believes a person is guilty, the defense did not provide reasonable doubt at a level sufficient to acquit the defendant.
Hearing jurors say we know a defendant is guilty then setting them free is nothing but a cop-out enlisted in hopes if gaining some sort of sympathy for refusing to do their job. It may help them sleep at night but, in cases like this one, the public will sit up at night wondering when and if this “guilty but acquitted” defendant will murder again.
Baez could do it, but if he chooses not to—she gets another attorney.
HUH? she won’t meet any tough broads behind bars?
So what happened exactly?
The judge on Fox said she should be out by next month.
Bill Schaefer on WFTV just said she will probably be out in 30 days or less.
Good thing she’s not a teacher - her students would be walking all over her!
Maybe she’s safer in jail because I’m sure there’s a lot of people that would like to she her head smashed in.....including me!!!!!!!
“Somewhere a village is missing 12 idiots”
So, how many years has Casey put in already and how many more will she spend? My assumption is she will do one more year and has served 3 years? Someone told me that with good behavior she will not have to serve anymore time?? How does this work??
Very articulate response!
“God is not bound by Double Jeapardy”.
If I am ever (God forbid) unjustly charged, I want ALL the protections...I do not trust the government, nor do I trust mob rule highlighted by our illustrious, hysterical media.
I rather trust a jury of citizens rather than a “professional jury” as some suggest..we already have a professional jury with Obama Care.
I helped hang a criminal jury once. Sometimes it's the right thing to do.
Judge Napolitano tells Bill H. she walks in a month.
