Slightly misleading, as the count is based on tusks, so it could actually bwe more than 60. What was actually discovered this week was tusk #119, meaning that remains of at least 60 mammoths have been found in the former sink hole.

Mammoth Site's website.

A very unfriendly place for families. The kids really wanted to see. And we did, last April. Called them as to their hours-—10 AM to 6 PM. Arrived 4:25 PM—CLOSED!

Called again and left a message: Could we come at 10 AM next morning? Sent an email. NO reply. Arrived 10 AM next day. CLOSED!

The walkway signs/exhibits suggest they have an evolutionist perspective, but are trying to tread carefully.

Can’t imagine why they are trying to make a profit and so obnoxious to travelers.

Does nobody realize they can identify the location (state) the report is about by typing in two additional letters, and maybe a comma?

Who cares. Send every reader off to search and see how many “Hot Springs” locations there are that google knows about.

What happened to journalism? It used to be a profession.

My daughter worked there last summer in the bone pit, the lab and the gift shop.

This summer she dug 1,200 year old human remains a 12,000 feet in Peru.

Who knows what bones she’ll be digging next year!

That's why whenever I post a story, no matter whether the abbreviation is in the dateline or not, I always post the state in the key words.

To your larger question, professional journalism has been replaced with “folksy journalism”, and has had added the twin banes of Advocacy Journalism and “citizen journalism”.

All three are more interested in conveying viewpoint and ‘narrative’, rather than clearly, concisely and coherently transmitting information.

All these Mammoths ending up dead in the same place? I guess back in the caveman days they used "Mammoths heading over the Cliff" instead of Lemmings. The cavemen may still use the phrase.

They cannot clone them because it is now illegal to make a poor animal stay in a cage at a zoo.

Oh how cool! When I was a little girl, if people asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up I’d say “paleoanthropologist!” Graphic design didn’t turn out to be nearly as interesting.
