Heat Index in Paducah: 153!
Weather Underground ^

Posted on 07/11/2011 2:44:14 PM PDT by Renfield

At 5:20 PM EST(4:20 local time), 7-11-2011, the Weather Underground website showed the heat index in Paducah, KY, to be 153 degrees (99 degrees with a 92 degree dew point). I've never seen it like this. (I'm in another part of the state, where the heat index is a paltry 111...I feel like a piker).

Post your astounding summer weather reports here...how hot is it where you are?

p.s. For any foreigners reading this, 153 degrees equates to 67 degrees Centigrade; it’s literally hot enough to cook food outdoors in Paducah today.

Indianapolis International Airport is at 113 degrees (heat index), which is ridiculous, because I don’t know anyone who lives at the airport!

After a lovely weekend in the mid 70’s, it finally cooled off a bit. Today we’ll be in the upper 60’s...

It’s 71 here...

Say what you will about Santa Monica (and I’d probably agree) but the weather doesn’t suck.

It’s hovering around 105-110 here in Oklahoma, that’s the actual temp, not a heat index....

This is an OBVIOUS error. Sorry...but there is no way the dew point is that high. Looking around the area...looks like the dewpoint is likely in the upper 70’s. So...assuming it’s 78...that puts the heat index at 116F.

It’s 67 here in the inland part of the Bay Area. No AC necessary—just open the windows. There may be many reasons why California is a carpy place to live, but when it’s 110 in most of the US, I’m very grateful to be here.

I remember as a kid going out and literally frying eggs on the sidewalk. Blacktop is faster :)

Only temperature does the actual cooking. The humidity just makes sure that it is nicely steamed rather than broiled.

I moved to Dallas one summer, unloaded the houseplants into the patio, went back to help the movers with the truck. And hour or so later I went back to check on the plants...

Texas heat. Just damn.

I did compute the heat index...and a temp of 99F with a DP of 78F...is 116F.

In Sacramento today it's 81, light SW breeze and 28% humidity.

It's normally 101 and 24%.

Sucks for the tomato and peach farmers, but it's great for the rest of us.
