It is perplexing, isn’t it ? A classroom of 25 kids costs the public school system $300,000 to operate for 9 months out of the year. You would think a private school could pay every teacher $100,000 salary for a 12 month school year and still spend half as much overall. Think about it: with ten classrooms, you’d have $500,000/yr left over to pay for an administrator, janitor, nurse, and utilities and facilities lease. If public schools weren’t “free” nobody would choose them. The only public schools should be “reform” schools for the kids that were troublemakers in the private schools. Cut property taxes in half and let people pay for their own kids to go to private schools.
One of the things I thought was interesting was that the mother commented that shaving would aggravate her son’s acne. My husband had that problem as well, and the only way he could avoid severe acne was to grow a beard. The last day he ever shaved was our wedding day, and then he immediately began growing his beard, which he kept until the day he died. He always kept it groomed, kept his curly hair short as well, and he was a handsome man. His beard started early, also.
