Estabrook Woods (Photos) *Fixed*
07/16/2011 | My Brother

Posted on 07/16/2011 8:03:31 PM PDT by Celtic Cross

Here are some pictures my brother snapped in Estabrook Woods* in Concord Massachusetts in May. He did it freehand with a 2005-ish stock digital camera.

From Wikipedia; *"The Estabrook Woods is a wild tract of more than 1,200 acres (4.9 km2) of woodland, hills, ledge, and swamp two miles (3 km) north of the Town of Concord.[1] It is the largest contiguous and undeveloped woodland within thirty miles of Boston."

I believe he has quite a talent...Enjoy.

Its a nice wood for sure...There are some BIG coyotes in there though, and black bear too, I hear.

In the very last photo, you can see lots and lots and lots of poison ivy.

Hope you have a lot of Fells Naphtha soap.
:)

funny about that. I grew up a few miles from there, never once heard of bear or coyote or anything more feral than a racoon.

They’ve moved in just lately...The place is ‘posted no hunting’, so that has really contributed to their number increase.

The whole Concord area is lousy with poison Ivy. I don't know why.

Luckily I'm immune. ;)

I'm betting the sissy liberals that inhabit the area will insist on 'sharing the land'.

Or forget their 'principles' and get an army of exterminators in.

Tecnu is also very, very good against poison ivy.

Fels-Naptha soap no longer contains Stoddard solvent.

Might as well just put some paint thinner on your poison ivy.

Ya’ know, I haven’t ever noticed the smell. We’re in east central Alabama and have a lot of poison ivy. We keep Tecnu stocked in the medicine cabinet year-round. We come in from our woods, clothes go immediately into the hot water wash and we use the Tecnu on hands, arms, ankles and feet. Then, clean wash cloth and wash face and neck.

It is the only thing that has worked for us.

I’d gladly take a bath in tecnu, smell regardless, if I could live in Alabama. The itch to get out of the Lib-nazi controlled northeast is far worse than any caused by poison ivy.

"Luckily I'm immune. ;)"

With exposure to bacterial or viral pathogens the body the body will show increased immunity and resistance. Resistance to the effects of poison ivy, much like bee stings, actually decreases with cumulative exposure.

Sounds like it works for you. But I was told as a boy to wash off poison ivy with COLD water and soap. Ever since, it has always worked just fine.

Hot water opens the pores, and lets the poison into your skin. Cold water is much better.

Fells Naphtha is working for us. Tecnu is good, too, but somewhat pricier than Fells.

I was immune to it until I was 17. Got covered head to toe with it on a trip to Plum Island.

Of my 11 children, I think only one is immune to it. On our little farm, we apply Ortho brush killer to poison ivy patches as they spring up. We’ve been able to keep it down that way.

One story I heard was that the New England apple orchard owners of old put poison ivy around their fields to discourage poachers.

The taxes are real friendly too. But please, if you come here don’t try to make it like where you left. We are friendly to people from the north who want to just enjoy how it is
