A Delray Beach man was arrested Wednesday after police say they found him aimlessly firing a gun in front of his home.
Officers responded at about 6:30 p.m. to Brian Garrahan's residence in the 900 block of Northwest Second Street, a neighborhood of single-family homes north of Atlantic Avenue and east of Pompey Park. An officer saw Garrahan, 37, indiscriminately firing off shots in front of his home, Delray Beach police Sgt. Nicole Guerriero said.
No one was struck or injured by the gunfire, Guerriero said.
When the officer arrived, Garrahan went into the house, opened a window and continued to shoot the gun through it, Guerriero said. Police set up a perimeter around the residence and called for the SWAT unit, but Garrahan surrendered before the SWAT unit arrived.
It was not immediately clear Wednesday what type of gun he was using or whether he struck anything.
Garrahan was taken to the city police department and was scheduled to be booked into the Palm Beach County Jail Wednesday night. He is expected to be charged with discharging a firearm in a public place and could face additional charges, pending the outcome of an investigation, Guerriero said.
Garrahan may have had a fight with his girlfriend, who was not home when the incident took place, Guerriero said.
So, if he was firing his gun deliberately he would NOT have been arrested?
I watched my uncle do this in Stuart Florida. I asked him what he was doing, he said he was chasing the squirrels from his pecan tree. He went into a “home” shortly thereafter.
Was it Curly Bill Brocius high on opium?
My wife LOVES squirrels, I love Black Adder.
Palm Beach cops get absolutely anal with anything about guns and civilians in the county, but all liberals get wet and giddy whenever mooslims fire into the air for CNN in the Middle East.
Had damn near the exact same thing happen across the street from my Dad’s house as I was visiting/babysitting my Sister.
Fella goes nuts and blasts a few from his shotgun, then passes out in his kitchen.
The entire police force was set up in my Dad’s house.
No one hurt -they arrested him by morning.
Crazy man. He’s crazy. Heh.
When my nearest neighbors practice with firearms, I can barely hear them.
