Not all meat is created equal (Group calculates carbon footprint of meats, cheeses)

A new report issued by the Environmental Working Group calculates the carbon footprint of meats, cheeses, and a smattering of other foods.

The results are good news for those who avoid red meat as well as vegans. They are not good news for vegetarian cheese lovers like this blogger.

Special shout-out to those of you who eat baby sheep: You suck! Lamb is the single most carbon-intensive meat, .. (beef 2nd)

Cheese comes out ahead of pork, farmed salmon, chicken and canned tuna. ..

What it means, in practical terms:

-Eating one less burger a week, is like driving 320 miles less over the course of a year or line-drying your clothes half of the time.

-If a family of four skips steak once a week, they may as well have left the car in the garage for three months.

-If everyone in the U.S. gave up meat and cheese one day a week, it would be the equivalent of taking 7.6 million cars off the road for a year.

Eating meat and dairy produced in more eco-friendly ways will lighten your load on the planet. And simply eating less meat and cheese will lighten your load on the bathroom scale.

And I thought to myself, "a little fermented curd will do the trick," so, I curtailed my Walpoling activites, sallied forth, and infiltrated your place of purveyance to negotiate the vending of some cheesy comestibles!

They didn’t include whale meat or foie gras.

Our great-great-grand children will only see cattle in zoos. They will be endangered by then for the evironazis will have justified killing 99% of them because of the carbon footprint.

Eating endangered creatures is illegal.

If you don't think this will happen(perhaps sooner), then you are one of those lost souls who actually believes the global warming/climate change scam is dead.

It's come to this?

I guess that's why they're trying to grow meat in petri dishes.

Your cartoon reminds me to ask: what is the carbon rating for goats and camels?

Rack of lamb at Patsy’s in NYC is near the top of my list. However, when I can’t get to the Big Apple I can console myself elsewhere.....such as this past weekend at Carrabba’s here in Camp Hill, PA where Veal Marsala drowned my sorrows. Country boy CAN survive!

By the way; Forgive me for believing God’s Word, but I’ll rely on IT instead of the lying, conniving, dissembling pseudo-scientists who flack AGW and other frauds. One unshakable rock upon which I stand is Genesis 8:22.....

“While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.” CASE CLOSED for me.

There is no way to explain this other than that sheer insanity is in the driver’s seat.

Carbon is the basis of life.

If the nuts so worried about carbon footprints actually succeeded in reducing carbon in the atmosphere, the result would be reduced carbon in the biosphere, meaning that there wouldn’t be as many living things. All living organisms consist of carbon that came from the atmosphere—it’s the basic biology of the carbon cycle.

Is their goal the eradication of life?

I went to Pastis with my dad for lunch the other day and ordered the croque-monsieur (fancy French version of ham and cheese). Dad didn't approve, but I didn't exactly care seeing as it was delicious. Look at this thing!

Before 10 years are out, California will require vegetarianism and CARB will enforce it. Don’t laugh. My prediction is not that far fetched. California government and their communist supporters are all insane.

We had one of those the first time we went to EU, 1980, Paris, and I still remember it, so good.

I would tend to agree, most of them look like walking death.

Why are they equating food to cars? Do they think we're not getting enough iron in our diets?

I was up all night running some calculations and have come to the conclusion that the Texas drought is directly related to the number of cattle being grilled too long and too hot...

Well you need to subtract my contribution last weekend, I did pork ribs.

And I actually watered while I was outside. Not that it does any good, everything is still dying.
