Gwyneth Paltrow has seen the light -- at least as far as her kids Apple, 7, and Moses, 5, are concerned.

The "Country Strong" star, 38, recently dished to a crowd at a London charity event that she and her husband, Coldplay rocker Chris Martin, are planning on raising their children Jewish, according to the Daily Mail.

Her mother Blythe Danner is of Anglo-Saxon descent and her father Bruce Paltrow, being Ashkenazi Russian Jewish, had many generations of rabbis in the family tree.

According to the Wiki...

Paltrow was born in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of Blythe Danner, an actress, and Bruce Paltrow, a film and television director and producer. Paltrow’s father was of Ashkenazi Russian Jewish descent; her mother is a Quaker of Pennsylvania Dutch and more distant white Barbadian ancestry. Paltrow’s paternal great-great-grandfather, whose surname was “Paltrowicz”, was a rabbi in Nowogród, Poland. Paltrow has a younger brother, Jake Paltrow, and is a half-cousin of actress Katherine Moennig, and a second cousin of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords (AZ-08).

Even thought her Jewishness comes from her father’s side, technically making her not Jewish, she still feels the pull to teach her the ways of Torah.

Paltrow Gets Serious about Jewish Roots
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/dailydish/detail?entry_id=2398

Gwyneth Paltrow has started taking her Jewish roots seriously after missing out on two years of fasting during the religion’s high holy days.

The actress was pregnant with baby Apple in 2003 and breastfeeding her daughter in 2004, so she made sure she honored Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur in style in 2005.

And Paltrow plans to pay tribute to her ancestors every year from now on.

She says, “I am the result of generations and generations of rabbis back in Minsk. They call it a rabbinical dynasty.”

Very true. She does need to convert and if she is serious about it I’m sure she’ll have a long line of Orthodox rabbis because according to this story...

“While her mother was a Quaker, the star’s father, the film director Bruce Paltrow, was a prominent Jewish American. He in turn was a direct descendant of David HaLevi Segal, the 17th century patriarch from Krakow, part of the mighty Paltrowich dynasty which gave the world a further 33 rabbis.”

Do they actually think that the kids will become religious while their parents are telling then that they have no religious beliefs.

She could always raise them Jewish even though they are not and then they can choose to convert later.

I work with a young guy who told me that he is Jewish and Christian. His single mom is Jewish. His absentee father was Catholic at some point. He says that he was raised in both religions. I can’t make this stuff up.

I worked with a young woman who told me she was both Hindu and Catholic. That prompted a female co-worker to comment "Just like Obama blah blah blah."

I was grateful she provided me with a door out of the conversation.

I bet she’ll take them to a Kabalah center so they can study just the mystical aspects of Judaism where they can meditate and feel the vibe. Kabalah is only popular because it doesn’t compel you to be a better individual versus Torah Judaism which does.

< i>"Quaker of Pennsylvania Dutch and more distant white Barbadian ancestry"

Pennsylvania Dutch are German-Swiss Mennonites and Amish. They have little overlap with Quakers.

White Barbados ancestry almost surely means Jewish, via Holland and Portugal.

Paltrow, who has dabbled in Kabbalah, was quoted as saying, "I don't believe in religion. I believe in spirituality. Religion is the cause of all the problems in the world."

Dabbling makes it so much easier, ya know. Don't have to apply any real energy, make personal sacrifices, follow rules, all that "religiony" stuff. /s
