It sounds like something from a Hollywood science fiction film: a race that is half human, half ape.
But leading scientists are today demanding tough new rules to prevent the nightmare scenario becoming a reality.
In a hard-hitting report, they warn that research is close to pushing ethical boundaries and that extreme attempts to give laboratory animals human attributes must be banned.
While talking chimpanzees and gun-toting gorillas are currently confined to movies, the academics say the dangers of disturbing animal-human experiments are real.
He added: We are trying to get this out in the open before anything has happened.
The Academy of Medical Scientists review was set up to look at the growing number of experiments

If these hybrids run amuck in Hollywood and stop the release of this horrid remake then I say it’s worth it!
When laboratory animals with human attributes are outlawed, only outlaws will have laboratory animals with human attributes!!!
If you're saying that the original nailed it, so the remake wasn't necessary (as was the case with the first installment of this series, the "Bad News Bears," and "Charlie & the Chocolate Factory"), I can't agree with you. "Planet of the Apes" with Charlie Heston was pretty close to perfect. Tim Burton ruins everything he gets his fat ugly hands on. That being said, the original "Conquest of the Planet of the Apes" was so bad that even Roddy McDowell & Ricardo Monteblan couldn't hide their embarrassment completely.
I'm looking forward to this one.
Let me rephrase that by omitting a couple of key words:
"When human attributes are outlawed, only outlaws will have human attributes!"
I don’t know why scientists would even feel compelled to create humans with ape-like tendencies.
We already have plenty of those around.
Conquest was AWFUL but still, it looks better than this one they have coming. That CGI is ridiculous.
You're probably right, but I will still go, because I am a sucker. I did so with Tron and Thor and Iron Man, because I thought the better special effects would make a difference.
We could use them to pick our lettuce.
Tron was pretty good! I’m going to like anything with Olivia Wilde in it though.
Best remake I’ve seen in a LONG time was True Grit hands down!
To tell you the truth, I think a monkey overlord would run this place a whole lot better than Obama.
These hybrids become smart enough to create Skynet.
Now wait a minute, I thought he WAS...
nevermind.
Don't forget ‘Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970)’ where James Gregory as General Ursus says “The Only good human is a dead human”. In the BEHIND THE PLANET OF THE APES documentary Heston said he only agreed to be in that dumb sequel because the script said he would get to blow up the Earth at the end and then his character Taylor couldn't be brought back again for an even dumber movie. But Heston didn't know that Hollywood had long discovered Time Travel, remember 1960s Time Tunnel and The Time Machine??
Can an Ape become president?
So why are YOU making the assumption that he was comparing a the first lady’s race with apes?
Don’t be a kneejerk liberal.
I found it ironic that the actor playing opposite Heston in the most recent remake was a vehement anti-gunner, who said he was “uncomfortable” playing in the scene with Heston.
And the scene itself was an explanation of the utility of GUNS to thwart the strong oppressing the weak.
In the scene, Heston’s “ape” stated that firearms could not be allowed to be re-discovered, or else the apes’ supremacy due to their strength would no longer be enforceable.
When will Hollywood figure out that Americans swarm to films about heroic Americans? -and that American men will pay $10 to see Olivia Wilde trim her toenails for ninety minutes?
Best remake Ive seen in a LONG time was True Grit hands down!
Good movie, but not in the same universe as the original. Not even the same movie, really. My favorite remake of all time is Scorcese's "Cape Fear," with DeNiro, Nick Nolte and Jessica Lang.
Those meddling fiends! They’ve brought back...the Minotaur!!
Dont be a kneejerk liberal.
The intention of his post was clear enough that he felt the need to include the "(evil grin)" disclaimer.
Past experience with you has led me to conclude that you are probably mentally retarded or deficient in some way, so I'm going to be the good Christian and ignore you for the rest of this thread.

There are communities on the Internet that will welcome this news.
Why would anyone want to make more muslims? Don’t we have enough?
That dumb movie made the 1970s sequels look good. Apes /Gorillas matching around with guns in 'Beneath' was pretty entertaining.
ah... playground stuff! Great fun!
"I know you are, but what am I?"
The Soviets already tried this, and failed, thankfully. Tells you pretty much what you need to know about Soviets and their modern intellectual descendants.

I guess you never heard of Oliver, the so-called "humanzee" then, right?

Charlton Heston is a personal hero of mine, but he certainly did not come out of the original smelling like a rose.
More proof of horrible man-animal hybrids: Tim Geithner in the morning:
I have. That was the source of my information - the link from his wikipedia entry. I don’t think it was mentioned there, but I’d heard that there were post French Revolutionary suggestions to try it more crudely, which were quashed by the then Pope. Sick, sick people. Pre- ‘Enlightenment’ it would have incurred the death penalty.
If you’ve heard of Oliver, then you’re probably as bugged as I am with the way shows like “Ancient Aliens” have made the History Channel utterly unwatchable, right?
This thread has gotten me to thinking: What if those ancient aliens were successful, and the result was Bigfoot? I’ll pause here to allow the ramifications of this theory to fully set it.
I don’t know about ancient aliens, ancient astronauts, bigfoot, yeti, that kind of thing. I’d guess there are some prosaic explanations for the as yet inexplicable, though I’m open-minded especially around things like yeti, or alma being included in Tibetan medical manuals that have no other fantastic creatures in them.
I haven’t seen much of the History Channel, so I can’t commiserate or even relate. Gotten a bit ahistorical has it?
Then there really are monsters under the bed!
“They finally really did it... The maniacs... They blew it up!”
Re: above. Bummer! The trailer has been pulled...
He has been one of my favorite actors since I was a kid, I loved those cheesy sci-fi movies like Soylant Green that my dad took me to back then.
The original Planet 1968 wasnt bad, it had a good theme, it had good actors, it had some good lines, it had thought provoking sci-fi imagination themes like :"Ape was made in God's image unlike the destructive Animal Man " was a great one, and the shocker visual of him on the beach reacting to the Liberty Statue is a classic. The following sequels were all crap.
But heck, I was a kid in the 1970s and in NYC around 1974 I went to see an all day showing of all five Planet movies in a row. Those were the 1970s 'Creature Feature/Chiller theater/Fright Night" days in NYC, a great time to be a kid.
Comparing black people to apes is universally frowned upon as racist in modern society. The basis for this goes back to the turn of the last century, when Darwin's theory began to be generally accepted, white supremacists borrowed it to suggest that blacks were less evolved.
I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt, and assuming you know this, but making that suggestion about the President and his family (even in jest) is the kind of thing the mainstream media uses to portray the members of this website as angry, ignorant rednecks. They only need a couple of such examples out of every million or so posts, and, believe me, they have people looking for them.
As I am sure you are aware, LameStream media will always slam us, either using out of context or even outright lies.
We are in the middle of a war for the soul of America, and te Liberals/commies know the facts do not support them, history does not support them. Only Lame Stream Presstitutes support them.
Expect to be called all sorts of things. They really can’t hurt us with their lies, thanks to the Internet and talk radio.
Is that “ManPig”, the first step toward the famous “ManBearPig”?
