He's being bankrolled by an animal rights group to make meat.

The molecular biologist is working in a lab at a land-grant university that pulls in millions in grants for its research on livestock. Yet the money backing him pushes the desire to end the use of animals as food.

Meat makers will also need to find a way to essentially exercise the tissue

Growing up, I would spend my summers at my grandfather's farm in northern Spain. I would find out "our" hog, feed him table scraps to its heart's content, and take it out daily and chase it with a stick to make it run. It was the ultimate effort for a tasty, lean ham!

He started that work at the University of South Carolina

I need to add this to my list of reasons why I will not joing the USC alumni association! After hurricane Hugo, I was left 4 weeks without power and a newborn baby, but my phone kept ringing off the hook because the alumni ass. wanted donations to "help those affected by the hurricane". They never understood (or believed) that I could have used some help myself! That was the first reason I did not join, this one will be the latest one!

Meat without feet sounds like a Doctor Seuss book.

I will not eat meat without feet...

I might try it if it was a nice sirloin. I expect that it will be more like a continuously exuded tube of spam.

Pharm Phresh.

You first.

I also wonder how close we are getting to this:

Acts 15:29

New International Version (NIV)

29 You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things.

Tuesday is Soylent Green day (not to be confused with Soylent "Green Day" - the nutritious food substitute made from a punkish band). Wednesday is Prince Spaghetti day. I prefer Wednesdays.

I have no issues eating meat without feet. If it is safe and tastes good I'll eat it. I think that some of the crap farmer's put in cows is probably not healthy. Just because it has feet doesn't mean it is "natural".

I have killed my own food and I have no moral issues eating animals. At the same time, like most hunters, I don't kill animals indiscriminately.

I was expecting a much more interesting article that would delve into the question of whether such manufactured meat could be kosher. If the meat has no feet, it stands to reason that the meat would have no hooves, cloven or otherwise.
