You speak the truth...
In the Faculty Lounge. And at their Friday Wine & Cheese parties. And listening to NPR. And reading the New York Times national edition.
The liberal intelligentsia is perhaps the most provincial group in the country. An incestuous closed circle, they only know what they reinforce to each other.
After having seen that picture of Boner & Obama drinking at the 19th hole, I KNEW for certain that we were screwed!
That's what Drew Weston does for a living. He "messages." Or rather, excuse me, he "consults" about "messaging."
Paragraphs deep into the message doodoo, he comes up with this:
"[We] chose to ignore some disquieting aspects of his biography: that he had accomplished very little before he ran for president, having never run a business or a state; that he had a singularly unremarkable career as a law professor, publishing nothing in 12 years at the University of Chicago other than an autobiography; and that, before joining the United States Senate, he had voted "present" (instead of "yea" or "nay") 130 times, sometimes dodging difficult issues."
He shoulda consulted with me. I got that message in 2007. And then this:
Our nation is being "held hostage" (his words) " a president who either does not know what he believes or is willing to take whatever position he thinks will lead to his re-election. One who never "comes to know who he is and what he believes in."
He could have gotten that message in 1995 from Obama himself, whose "Dreams From My Father" (a "brilliant" autobiography of somebody who doesn't know himself) is now available from amazon.com for $0.01.
Used.
(Clears throat:) "Just like you were, Drew Weston."
