Obama Job Approval 50% or Higher in 16 States and D.C.
gallup.com ^ | 08/08/11 | Jeffrey M. Jones

Posted on 08/08/2011 8:11:43 AM PDT by ThinkingBuddha

Residents of 16 states and the District of Columbia gave President Obama approval ratings of 50% or higher during the first half of 2011, led by the District of Columbia, Connecticut, Maryland, and Delaware. Idaho residents had the least positive appraisal of his performance, with 27% approving.

These results are based on aggregated Gallup Daily tracking data from January through June, consisting of nearly 90,000 interviews nationally. Obama averaged 47% approval on a nationwide basis during this time. Each state's data is weighted so it is demographically representative of the state's population. The full data for each state can be found on page 2 of this report.

Obama's support is greatest in the East, with 8 of his 10 highest approval ratings occurring in states located in the Northeast or Mid-Atlantic region of the country. The 2 non-Eastern states ranking among the 10 highest are Obama's home states of Hawaii and Illinois.

States giving Obama his lowest approval ratings are more varied regionally, with several in the West but also including Southern and Midwestern states.

This is BS. How is 43% “average” while 53% is “above average”?

He needs to be at 50% to win. I’d say 50% is where average begins (maybe 49% at best).

Quite frankly, I’d really like to separate my future from these idiot filled states.

They want BS government like this, then let them fund it 100%.

I want nothing to do with this crap any longer.

States with the smallest share of idiots, moochers and communists:

Bottom 10 States, Obama Job Approval, January-June 2011

Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Arkansas, Montana, Kentucky, North Dakota, Alabama, Kansas.

I'm proud to say, I've at least stayed overnight in all of these states, was born in one of them and lived in five of them.

Maryland is doing very well under Obama and they just re-elected Dem governor O Malley for imposing a massive tax increase on the poor and middle class(as well as expensive green energy mandates) , which he then rewarded them again with a increased tax on Alcohol to pay for state college aid (discounts) for illegals as well as other stuff.

He is below 50% in all the battlground states.
Florida 47%
Virginia 48%
Ohio 45%
Pennsylvania 48%
Missouri 42%

Wisconsin and Michigan are at 50% but other than that he is a dead campaign running in every swing state. And a dem incumbent shouldn't have to worry about Wisconsin and Michigan. Heck he is at 44% in Oregon and that should be solidly blue.

On top of this all the poll is from Gallup. It only looks at adults, not even US Citizens much less likely voters. Not a good day for Obama.

random sample of 89,965 adults, aged 18 and older, living in all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia.

Note: This adults of voting age. It does not take into consideration if they are registered or even a likely voter.

The poll is accurate in reflecting voter sentiment of those that are old enough to vote. This poll is designed to be user friendly for the incumbent Obama.

The real numbers for likely voters must truly be in the pits.

This from Rasmussen is of likely voters Overall, 46% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the president's performance. Fifty-two percent (52%) at least somewhat disapprove.

If Obama can't hold onto either Ohio and Pennsylvania then the rest is academic. You can't win the presidency with just New York, California and Illinois. There just aren't enough votes in New England. He needs the rust belt sense he isn't going to get any help in the South or mountain West.

Same old blue-state suspects. Interesting he’s at 50% in Michigan, considering the economic crash that state has had. Midterm results notwithstanding, an aardvark with a (D) would win a presidential election in some states.

I know a bunch of liberals, and they still like obama too.

I went out with a couple of guys over the weekend. One is a Dem, the other an independent who voted for Obama in '08. I'd characterize neither of them as "political", which is probably why we get along so well.

Talk *did* turn to politics, however, as we all agreed that our 401k's were taking a beating over the past couple of weeks.

The "independent" (and, more conservative one) said, approximately, "I voted for Obama because I thought he was different and I thought he could change the system. But it looks like he's just more of the same brand of BS politician. No way I vote for THAT again."

The Democrat agreed, though he said that he'd likely just stay home. "To hell with all of them." was his comment, approximately.

Me? I said nothing. They were doing such a good job of self-flagellation, that there was no more I could contribute.

I realize that this is just one anecdote. But I think that this kind of opinion shift is a lot more prevalent than any of us realize. Good news, IMHO.

My dad, the smartest guy I've ever known even though he didn't finish HS (he joined the Navy at 17 in 1944), always told me to be wary of "averages"... he said "on average, everyone has one testicle and one ovary"... (well, he didn't exactly use those words, but you can imagine what he said).

MA and CT - two states very unfriendly to business. Hostile might be more appropriate. CT has long been a welfare Mecca and attracted a lot of stupids, unluckies, lazies and illegals to freeload. They have replaced the original population as the old population has died or moved to friendlier Red States.

This place is a lost cause. I’m here probably because I was too stupid or too lazy or to old to take a big chance or leave when the getting was good.
