Rick Perry's keynote speech at today's National Conference of State Legislatures Summit details his views on governments, growth, fiscal responsibility, and what we can learn from current events, the S&P Downgrade, and this administration's policies.

Calling for fiscal discipline, a change from federal overreaching to broadened state and local government, and and a determination to build a strong country for a better tomorrow, Rick Perry lays it out and shows you who he is, what he does, and how he does it.

"Our fiscal house is on shifting sand", says Rick Perry.

"Some say we are seeing America in decline, but I don't believe that. When I look and see the nobility and the sacrifice, as we did just this last week, of our soldiers and Navy Seals in Afghanistan... when I see Americans going to work every days to make a better life for their children... I know our country's best days are ahead of us."

"I believe in this country, because I believe in Americans."

Governor Perry's speech includes some insight on how Texas, under his leadership, has been the recipient of the following awards and blessings:

1. Named the top state for growth and development for 7 years in a row by CEO Magazine,

2. Led the nation in exporting for 9 years running, exports being up 27% since 2009 alone,

3. Won the 2010 Governor's Cup for having the most new and expanded corporate facilities in the country,

4. Added 4.2 million more people to the state between 2000 to 2010, Named our nation's "Top Move-to Destination" for the past 6 years,

and

5. During the last two years, Texas has had 40% of the net new jobs created in the US. While this state has only 8% of the country's population, 40% of all net new jobs were in Texas.

Perry’s main problem is that he will be associated with Bush. The dims will keep pounding the “we-can’t-afford-another-governor-from-Texas” meme.

Even though the Bushes can’t stand him.

So long as more people in the country like him than they like Obama, we're good to go. :)

Thanks for posting the video. I heard about the speech but wanted to hear it and not just the pulled quotes.

Perry is always better in context, with the flow and style of his speech -- he paints a picture -- he's sincere.

Students have put together a video about Perry (Not like the Van Jones- Move-On Obama) 3:34 YouTube Video: IT'S TIME FOR RICK PERRY

Here is an article that best shows the stark difference between Perry and Obama, by a British report who visited Paint Springs, TX. Rick Perry:the Paint Creek boy who would be king

Just like the speech you posted, his article about Perry just makes you feel GOOD.

It probably goes against so-called "conventional wisdom", but I don't see this as a problem.

I just read recently that President Bush is enjoying a favorablity rating these days in the 50's whereas Obozo's numbers are in the low 40's.

The years 2000 to 2008 aren't looking so bad to more and more folks apparently.

Yes, a lot of conservatives, include me, thought G.W. was not conservative enough fiscally, but there was no better warm fuzzy then seeing G.W. with the troops. Missing that.

Seems like 2 and 1/2 years of Obama in office can do a lot to put things into perspective!
