Curious story actually. I would have entirely forgotten that 2005 thread and comment, except about two or three years after I posted it, I received a FReemail from somebody who had signed up that day, claiming to be the decedent’s cousin or some such relative, and chastising me for my callous remark.
Confession is good for the soul. Te absolvo. Now go and sin no more.
Funny, two odd dead body stories in as many days. I read a news story yesterday that in late July some divers in Lake Tahoe found the very well preserved body of a SCUBA diver on a shelf at about 245 feet. Name was Widecker or Windecker, or similar.
He’d been down there since 1994.
A terrible tragedy... You’d think in 27 years someone would have conducted an exhaustive sweep of the area to find the fellow. Now this puts a damper on the family’s plans as they have to hold a funeral.
Poor fellow — once he fell in, the odds were certainly stacked against him.
Sounds interesting. Can you provide a link for that? Please?
Body of missing Lake Tahoe diver found 17 years later
Googling Widecker Lake Tahoe produces lots more hits, if you're interested. There are all sorts of stories about preserved bodies of murder victims down there, which I'd dismissed as folklore. But a well-preserved body that was verifiably down there for 17 years- makes me go 'hmm'.
