Palin Interview to Univision
Univision ^ | 2 weeks before 2008 election

Posted on 08/15/2011 5:20:37 AM PDT by normy

Governor, let me ask you about immigration. How many undocumented immigrants are there in Alaska? I don't know, I don't know. That's a good question.

As governor, how do you deal with them? Do you think they all should be deported? There is no way that in the US we would roundup every illegal immigrant -there are about 12 million of the illegal immigrants- not only economically is that just an impossibility but that's not a humane way anyway to deal with the issue that we face with illegal immigration.

Do you then favor an amnesty for the 12 or 13 million undocumented immigrants? No, I do not. I do not. Not total amnesty. You know, people have got to follow the rules. They've got to follow the bar, and we have got to make sure that there is equal opportunity and those who are here legally should be first in line for services being provided and those opportunities that this great country provides.

To clarify, so you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants? I do because I understand why people would want to be in America. To seek the safety and prosperity, the opportunities, the health that is here. It is so important that yes, people follow the rules so that people can be treated equally and fairly in this country.

Look Normy,

If we don’t get tough on Illegal Immigration, the U.S.A. is going by way of California, Bankrupt!!!!!!

Perry is a George W. Bush Clone on Illegal Immigration, not wanting to offend the Mexican Government.

Perry has positives, no doubt, just like Bush did, but his weakness on an important issue like Illegal Immigration eliminates him from the field.

If we don’t control Illegal Immigration, in 20 years Texas will be like Miami, where if you don’t speak Spanish you don’t get a job, you are screwed.

I speak Spanish and am Bilingual and have Mexican Friends, and I know that if Illegal Immigration is not stopped in the next couple of years, you can kiss our great American Heritage Good-bye.

Perry should never get the GOP Nomination because he is weak on Illegal Immigration.

Get It.

Fair enough.

I'm not a big fan, but I will support him for one reason and one reason only....get that slug outta the white house.

Hopefully we can take the senate and keep the house of reps, then we can put pressure on the president to lean more conservative on issues like the border security, pro-American trade negotiations, enforcing the laws already on the books in regards to illegal immigrants.

It clearly is not Perry. He will destroy this country.

He might improve the economy, but, his weakness on Illegal Immigration will ruin this country.

Bachmann, and Palin are the best that I have heard that are running or could run for the GOP Nomination.

I am not sure of Santorum’s views on the subject.

Actually, that was just last night, and we beat the horse to death over there. I’m sorry to see it pop up again.

On the issue of immigration, legal and illegal, I believe Palin and Perry are on the same page.
What separates the two is:

Achievement: Palin, in her brief stint as a governor, arguably accomplished some good things.
On the other hand, un der Rick Perry's stewardship Texas has been the leader in job creation and job growth in the entire country for the last several years.
Texas under Perry will be much scrutinized now that he as declared and we all learn together what has occurred to make the Lone Star State numero uno amongst people relocating.
And if Palin declares her 1/2 term will be dissected too.

Character: Scratch the veneer and below it might be found a somewhat stark difference between the Perry's and the Palin's.
You know, after Governor Perry's speech Saturday and his lovely family joined him on stage a feeling of relief came over me. Why? Because there was no 'Levi', and the Governor's daughter, Sydney, certainly wasn't pregnant, (and I highly doubt she be 'sharing a house' with two black guys like Bristol will soon do), the Governor's son was there with his pretty, genteel, young wife. and what is it about Texan women that they make such resplendent First Ladies? Anita Perry truly fits this description.

Look at this image -

It is Sydney Perry with her daddy, Governor Rick Perry.
Now do this: suspend reality for a minute, strain your imagination and try to envision Rick Perry extorting his supporters, forcing them to buy a book his daughter had (ghost)written, in order to then buy his book or get his autograph.
Can't do it, can you? Hell no you can't because such behavior would be unthinkable as well as unacceptable to Rick Perry!

Palin is NOT pro amnesty. She had to say those things to the Spanish people at Univision because she is a savvy politician that will win the presidency easily.

Well - is she lying to us or them?

"PALIN: People mock the idea of a fence. What’s wrong with building a fence? Yes, let’s physically secure the border."

I'm still waiting for some reporter to ask the President why he doesn't tear down the White House fence and replace it with a "virtual fence," since a physical fence acts as a barrier between people and is unnecessary. It would provide a much more "open" feeling and it would be easier to cut the grass.

Here is my problem, Palin never had to deal with this issue from a practical level and she has been on both sides of this fence. Once she sees the real problem, who knows which way she will turn? Plus I don't know why she is accepted by some as the heir apparent when she governed a state of 770,000 for 2.5 years.

I am looking at the total package and aside from beauty and some nice libertarian/conservative speeches, her actions don't speak very loud for her governing style.

Look if say for the sake of argument Alaska sends in 10 billion to the feds in taxes and then gets back 18 billion. Then Alaska taxes the oil companies to further pad the bank account, it seems a pretty easy task to balance the budget.

In Texas, say Texas send in 10 billion but gets back 9.4 billion and has to use some that money to secure a 1,200 mile border with Mexico yet still balances it's budget without a state income tax. That speaks volumes to me.

You may look like a genius if we both make 1000 a week but you get an extra 800 dollar bonus. You could really balance your household budget and make me look bad, but it would be apples to oranges.

My post points out how Bush 2 had ten years to take on illegal immigration in a border state and did nothing but pander.

Bush 2 will do the same thing as president if you are dumb enough to elect him, just like Bush 1.

Palin understands the problems and knows how to get results instead of talking BS for ten years.

Perry has said that the Border Fence is Stupid,

Perry has said that he is against denying citizenship to baby’s born in the U.S. of illegan immigrants,

Perry is for providing in-state tuition benefits to children of illegal immigrants. (That is an incentive for the Mexican illegals to keep their children in school in Texas, knowing that they will get what only U.S. Citizens in Texas receive)

We had George W. Bush, who was awful on illegal immigration, we do not need George W. Bush Jr., or Rick Perry.

Just because we want to get rid of Obama, does not mean we need to elect a loser on illegal immigration, an issue, as important as the economy.

We don’t get tough on Illegal Immigration, we are done as a country.

Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin and Sarah Palin have attested to Rick Perry's bona fides as a conservative. Are they lying?

Governon Palin has made clear her views the last 2-1/2 years on Illegal Immigration and she is much better than Perry.

We know Perry’s views on Illegal Immigration and they are awful. I don’t care that he has had to deal with the Mexican Border.

We know how he will govern if elected President, on Illegal Immigration, just like GWB.

Palin? She hasn’t been in a position to do anything yet but it’s a good bet she’ll do what’s right like she always does.

Bush 2 has been in the position to decide and failed.

We KNOW what Bush 2 would do. He’ll do his master’s bidding and pass the DREAM act and an amnesty. He will then tell you to your face that it’s not amnesty because they have to pay a fine.

Just like Bush 1.

Woah, Palin always does right huh? That speaks volumes.

Perry doesn't always do right but he's the best candidate.Of course I don't always know what is the right thing to do either, unlike Palin and I guess you.

I went to the Response in Houston. He was genuine and never made it about him. I doubt Palin would do the same, it's always about her.
